Microsoft’s Windows Vista Still Can’t Vanquish XP

Interesting research suggests that 1 in 3 Windows PCs is still being sold with the supposedly banned XP instead of the image-challenged Vista. Big computer makers like Dell and HP can sell XP machines to businesses, or anyone willing to pay extra for a business PC. Those licenses allow a "downgrade" loophole to XP.

I don't see why everyone is giving up. Go online, download it for free, call Microsoft for the confirmation code or get a keygenerator off the Internet. Microsoft brought this on themselves; now they should face the consequences

That's the problem -- many manufacturers no longer provide XP drivers for newer machines (clearly under a "deal" with MicroSh)...

You don't need to buy your computer from a major manufacturer in order to get a 'downgrade' license to Windows XP Pro. Just make sure whatever computer you buy has Vista Business Edition on it. That allows you to use the product key to downgrade to XP Pro, using any XP Pro disk.
It's advisable to make sure there are drivers compatible with all of your computer parts before downgrading, or you may have something (sound card, network card, etc.) that won't work after the downgrade. You may also lose any programs or data you may have stored or installed, depending on how you 'downgraded'. It's recommended you know what you're doing before embarking on a downgrade from Vista to XP, or have an IT professional help you out.
