So far, the Tag Reading System has held its own with our 4-year-old. He quickly figured out how the pen can read aloud the whole book, or individual words. He's especially liked the games, which encourage success by opening new levels. And despite our best efforts, he's seen enough video games to know they're all about levels.
Nothing holds his attention for more than 30 minutes or so. But he's returned to the Tag over the weeks. That alone might justify the cost, even if it doesn't teach him a lick about reading (though I suspect it will).
The pen and one book cost $50. Added books run $10 to $15. So the real cost might be about $100 to get enough titles to keep him interested.
