HP sells what it calls Mini-Note PCs
Speaking of netbooks, their rising popularity is one bright spot in a dismal PC market. Also known as mini-notebooks, sales of the shrunken laptops grew 160 percent in the third quarter over last year, say analysts at DisplaySearch.
Of course, the category didn't exist until nearly the end of last year's quarter when Asus launched its Eee PC. Now all 10 major PC makers have entered the market, except for Apple. Now netbooks are poised for dramatic growth, the analysts say. Asus, by the way, has fallen behind Acer as the leading seller.
