Now that's a big cellphone: RadioShack said it would sell an Acer netbook for $100 with a 2-year wireless contract. Okay, it's a $60 data contract, not voice.

Still, it's an interesting twist on the subsidies that wireless carriers provide for voice handsets. The Acer netbook comes with a built-in modem for AT&T's high-speed data network.

The deal also capitalizes on the growing popularity of netbooks. The super-light laptops typically have shrunken keyboards, less-powerful processors and screens smaller than 10 inches across. The Acer has a 9-inch screen, an Intel Atom processor and would normally cost about $350. It and the wireless plan will cost about $1,500 over the 2 years.

As Mr. T used to say "I Pity The Fool" that would get hooked into buying a PC like that just to save on the upfront cost of buying a laptop like device. Even the rent to buy businesses are cheaper than this scam.

$1500 in a world where wireless internet is often found free. No thanks.
