I have Charter and I currently have Download Speed: 28682 kbps (3585.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

Upload Speed: 1888 kbps (236 KB/sec transfer rate)

I pay $80 a month and I have never had any problems with there service. Actually I would have to say that Charter is the best company for cable internet I have ever been with.

I do agree that people bitch and complain too much.Charter has had plenty of time to do their job. The fact that charter is unrealiable has nothing to do with the fact that they can fix the server when its down. It shoudnt be down.. It seems to me that charter has taken more customers in my area than it can handle. The company completely has control over my area and i dont think its right. The customer should always have the option to choose from companies. Also the internet speed is not what i pay for therefore the company should cut prices, fix the speeds, or let someone else come in and do the job correctly!

ps. i heart FIOS!!!

I have to agree, Charter does cut out now and again, is this the new capping system going into effect? I'm on the top tier 20M down/ 2M up plan and I noticed the service cuts out every now and gain, is this a problem with the service? or the new cap in service they're deploying? I'm confused and disappointed. Being on the current top tier I would expect them to not cap this service or have a high capping level. I download from ittunes some HD moves and TV shows and I find that this cuts out every now and again, I expect that a lot of people will start viewing on Hulu and other content providers over the Internet in the next 3-5 years, demands in going to go up. I would hope Charter can see this happening and make sure there network can support this, these caps frustrate and will eventually cause customer to move to whatever alternatives arrive in there neighborhoods.

its so retarded that i pay 80 a month for 20 down 2 upload.. I WISH FIOS was offered where i live... They give you 20 download / 20 upload for 69.99 a month which is 10 times faster upload than charter offers. I PAY 80 a month for garbage from charter .. I live in the Los Angeles area and let me tell you ... It is not reliable.. It has been cutting out left and right while i am on the web and takes some time to get back up.. When will charter actually Give us reasonable download + upload speeds for the outrageous prices that we pay.

Charter doesn't even offer docsis2.0 service at the moment. I Have Comcast and with my "special" modem combined with their 2.0 configs I get 30/10Mbit+ always. My top speeds are 4.1MB/dn 1.3/up. With 1.1 the upload drops to 5Mbit

As far as I know Charters best 1.1 configs only deliver 30/2Mbit.

I wish the cable companies would get on the ball and start offering higher tiers for reasonable rates. The prices for broadband are outrageous.

Here's what will happen though. Comcast isn't gonna let Charter top them. They can easily offer a higher tier than the 50 they offer now.

I live in an area where the only choice of internet is charter. I decided pick the fastest option they provided(16mbps) and it still sucks!!! It always cuts out for hours at a time and when it does work the speed is around 7 mbps. Ive discussed this problem with ever agent the place has in that company. Im praying that a new internet provider come to hammond, LA and they would make a killing here. Everyone around here is forced to use this horrible company! If they do, by some miracle come out with this 60 mbps internet it still wont work worth a crapt. If it does work it will work at speeds like 10-16 mbps!! screw charter!

I live on the North side of Houston and Charter doesn't even have OnDemand services around here... We've been waiting patiently for the past 4-1/2 years for it - after moving from an area 4 miles away which did have OnDemand and was in a Time Warner neighborhood.

The local manager practically accused me of stealing a cable box, after I legally purchased one (that was direct from a distributor) and requested to use my newer&better box in my house.

I'm just hoping they go bankrupt and the company folds. I'll be pleased to see the last nail put in their coffin.

I work for charter as a tech in michigan and day after day service crybaby's and their "slow" internet speeds there are many more factors that come into play with internet speeds poor wiring, junk computer, spyware.....etc if your charter service is unreliable you probably have bad coax in your home and as far as im concerned we kiss customer ass all day everyday and service more homes then att and the rest of the compititon with inhouse techs that TOTALLY take care of all your needs for $35/ if not 9 times out of 10 free and look at our competitions prices you tell me whose cheaper comcast with their crappy SPEEDBURST junk? come on now and our nodes are never overloaded they are constantly monitored if they even get a glimmer of overloading they are rebalanced so before you cry about prices and cry about reliability maybe you should take a look at what you have and what other providers have try att's support or comcasts support.

bottom line ppl always bitch about services they have to shell out money for it could be 100% reliable an they will still bitch about something and btw our system is capable of 150mb.

you quite obviously dont have "fiber optics plugged directly into your modem" as if you had fiber you would not need a modem and can plug the fiber cable directly into your switch / gateway.

Al of MA 4:10AM February 12, 2009

So you're getting 50mbps fiber optic for $70.

How big is your country?

It costs a lot more to run high speed through the US, because it's such a huge sprawling nation.
