Now to be called the Garmin-Asus Nuvifone

Garmin said it is teaming with PC-maker Asus to build its Nuvifone smartphones. That makes a lot of sense for the GPS maker. Making cellphones is a tough business in which Asus has experience.

Garmin had met a lot of skepticism when it said a year ago it would enter the phone market. Seeing how the Nuvifone was supposed to be on the market by last fall, the skepticism had some foundation.
