Can the Chevy Volt Survive GM?

If you will charge GM Volt battery at home and work, with electricity, which isn't cheap and clean, the life of battery set will be reduced drastically.

If you decide to buy an $8000 to $10000 battery set every 3 to 4 years buy a GM volt.

Overusing the hybrid car battery can dramatically shorten the battery life span.

Coal is used to create almost half of all electricity generated in the United States. ...

Who Needs a Hybrid When You Can Have a Diesel?

Volkswagen Jetta TDI turbo-diesel delivers 50 mpg.

Would you want these two cars?

1.) An electric car with a 40 mile range that also carries several hundred pounds of unused engine, generator, fuel system, exhaust system, emission system, and fuel.

2.) A underpowered conventional car that carries 400 pounds of unused battery, an unused generator, and an electric motor, all unable to work in hybrid mode except perhaps for some energy recovery.

Will people want both vehicles in one with the Chevy Volt?

Consider the alternative of 60 to 100 mile range pure electrics (coming 2010) and a rental car for long trips, or an electric-only plus a hybrid or plug-in hybrid (coming 2010) for a two car family?

Our family has a Prius and a light pickup truck converted to electricity and I used to lease an Electric Ranger 1998-2002 and have ridden in the EV-1, so I know the utility of what I describe.

People today assume that imports are the way to go, why??? Why are soooo many americans buying into the hands of forigen car makers, sending all our money overseas and worsening our economy? GM, Chrysler, and Ford have quality, American built vehicles that wipe imports off the map. The Media has corrupted our vision and taught us to think Toyoda and Honda have better cars when in reality american made cars are longer lasting and more efficient than them. We the people of this great country should show our support for our companies and workers, not cut them down. In this economy, we need to help OUR country, OUR people, OUR jobs. Bring the American Dream back to life, BUY AMERICAN!!!

This "green" business is really making me sick!!!!Everywhere especially on FOX network it is being shoved down our throats!!.

IT DOESN'T EXIST... scientists have proven it... As for Al Gore he lost running for president how he has to get his name in the history books some how... NOW for the chevy volt $40,000 for a car that get 50 miles per charge that is unsatifactory.

The TESLA gets 200 miles per charge and the price is comming down on the car... DETROIT WISE UP.. AMERICANS ARE NOT THAT STUPID....

I already own an electric car. It's a small "street legal" car made by Chrystler and is estmated to cost me about $10 per month to keep it charged. As soon as one of the carmakers, come out with an electric car that is highway legal, I will buy it. I am tired of supporting the big greedy oil companies, and refuse to do so as soon as possible.

GM will make the Volt a loser if they do not make it affordable. If it saves 500 gallons a year at $4 per gallon the savings would only be $2000 per year. Consumers will not buy a car that has a payback that is too long. Maybe predicted future production is low because they know this car will be a money loser.

Driving in Europe for the past couple of years at 40 mpg in a turbo diesel, it is clear that North America has some catching up to do with the internal combustion engine. Nonetheless, I look forward to a real rechargable battery powered vehicle like the Chevy Volt. The world could really use a cleaner means of transportation, although it still does not beat the bicycle! I hope that GM sticks it out to make this vehicle a reality.

Why isn't anybody talking about slamming the door on imports until our industries are on their feet? We better get our priorities strait. And don't give me "stuff" about Toyota's manufactured here. When their margin goes to Japan, we are bleeding economically.

If it makes it to production, GM will kill it just like the ev1

They allways have draged there feet at everything they have ever

done and then they'll say , darn, I wish I wish I wish... I just want a simple mid size EV to drive to work without all the bells and garbage.make it simple and afordible .. Hello out there. Am I the only poor fool who thinks this way ?
