10 Cars That Could Salvage Detroit

What many of you silly gung-ho buy-American types don't seem to get is that American car companies didn't or don't make the products people want. When GM and other American car companies were hit with the energy crisis in 1975, what did we get? The Chevette and Monza 2+2 and the Pacer and Gremlin? Really now? LOL! That was their answer? Couldn't get it drilled in their heads that we wanted reliable small cars, which is what the Japanese promised and delivered quickly and consistently. They simply filled a market that wasn't being catered to or answered by American car companies for 2 decades if not longer.

When the Toyota Prius was introduced, GM laughed. Yeah? Who's got the last laugh now?

The new "All American" Chevrolet Camaro is anything but American. Over half of it is manufactured and designed in Canada. I don't think that was the America the buy-American types were thinking of.
