How To Find Gold In a Recession Economy

It is up to us the working class of America to change things. Marc of PA you are right. It is up to us to decide how we deal with what is happening. I see some of you complaining about no income to start a business on a 40k a year income. I am starting mine on a income of under 25k a year for a family of 5. If you really want something you can accomplish anything. Make flyers to promote your service or business. Check upcoming community events and get involved to spread the word. Do some hard work and it will pay off. There are no quick fixes everything will take time to bounce back. Anyone who says you can start your own business today and make millions tomorrow is full of it. Its not the size of your budget that matters its your determination. To many people want to sit at home and complain which solves nothing. Get up and do something about it. Write or call your governor, senator, state rep. . start a group to help others in worse situations, start your own business, go back to school, find a new job making less. Don't just sit and complain do something about it or shut up. We need more hope and less woe is me.

Many companies will find that doing more bartering will help their bottom line.

Bartering can help monetize both unsold physical inventory as well as hours that aren't being billed.

Perishable, time sensitive inventory, such as any time based business (accounting, carpenters, auto mechanics, hotel rooms, restaurants, etc.), one gone, can never be regained. Why not get some value out of it?

If you join a modern, alternative currency barter exchange with access to a large network of other businesses, you can increase your market at a minimal cost.

The barter credits gained can reduce cash costs or pay for advertising to bring in new business.

Yes, I own one of those nationwide barter exchanges - www.smartbarterusa.com. Let's make a deal!

How quickly Americans have forgotten that the hard times started way before September 11 and "The Weapons of Mass Distruction" brain wash by the Bush administration.

Top American Companies have been allowed to outsource service and manfacturing jobs to other countries, for years. We set back and allowed Rogue, Greedy CEO'S and CFO'S of companies like ENRON who saw a way to degrade the moral fiber, and raid the coffers of working americans who invested there time, talent, money and loyalty to the company they worked for.

These companies without a thought of the "trickle down effect" of the loss of 10 jobs to the community the small businesses, neighborhoods, county and municipalities when gainful employment is lost.

The real shame should be on every American who did not vote after year four and remove an administration who cared nothing about an average american and the WORKING poor, those who have served our country and have lost there way after there return from "SERVING OUR BELOVED COUNTRY".

Every average american who allowed the past eight years to thrive in mediocrity, and arrogrance but NOW expect one man to cure the ills of the US finanicial system, health care system, end a war, save jobs, create jobs and do so in in TEN months.

SHAME ON THOSE WHO HAVE PROFITED FROM THE BAIL OUTS.

HOW QUICKLY WE FORGET THE CHILDREN OF THE INNER CITIES BECAUSE WE ARE SO BUSY ATTEMPTING TO FEED OTHER COUNTRY'S CHILDREN.

HOW QUICKLY WE FORGET THAT "NO CHILD IS LEFT BEHIND" BECAUSE THEY HAVE NOT SURVIVED THEIR CHILDHOOD.

HOW QUICKLY WE FORGOT GULF COAST RESIDENTS WERE REFERED TO AS REFUGEES AS NEW YORK CITY IS BEING REBUILT.

HOW QUICKLY WE FORGET

I am sick and tired reading these articles that reference people starting their own companies that were prevously lawyers or wall street professionals. They usually make alot more money than the average factory or regular company employee. It is far easier for them to start their own business. I am not saying that the average person could not with hard work, but how can you compare someone making over $100k or more per year to a $40 to $50 thousand yearly income person to try to start their own business especially now.

While we have many people ready to watch a computor controlled machine pump out parts what we need is those able to make small quantity special parts and do repairs.

Shop classes and trade schools have been cut.

Everyone is being taught how to manage information but not how to actually make or repair real world things.

I am having trouble getting plumbers come and give me a quote.

My business forms critical steel parts.

Half of the college trained engineers don't know the differnce between a casting (melted steel poured into a mold) and a forging (metal formed to maximize strength).

Other jobbing shops (those making special parts that use skill, judgement and knowledge)are desperatley looking for people to run certian machines.

All 3 branches of our government are made up of primarily 3 professions:career politicians, lawyers and businessmen. These are the same 3 professions that most Americans put at the bottom of a "who do you trust" type national survey;the people we trust to do what is in our best interest. We make jokes constantly about them and obviously hold them in low regard, yet they have controlled our very destiny. We are led to believe that voting is our method of control, our constitional right and our obligation. If you look at election history in this country it is obvious that the majority of Americans do not buy it.We would rather vote for things that we think we can actually control such as "Best male or female pop artist of the year","The sexiest man of the year" or any non-political choice of the year.It is pathetic is it not?Every now and then we think that we got one step up on the government with some small amenity,a little loophole in the system. The government uses "Think Tanks" to plan their strategy for governing;most of us are "Mom and Pop" sitting at the kitchen table with limited academic credentials, assets and information to plan our next move.It is futile to believe that we are any different from the Asain peasant farmer far out in countryside tending his fields totally oblivious to what is going on in government. All he knows is that his fields need tending every day and that he must concentrate on that simple task.

Its all in your "Mind Set". If you plan to do nothing like in the last recession. Then you will gain nothing.

If you change your Mind Set to invent, create and do some research. Then it is you who can change your outcome.

Start with you.

Then after you have mastered your accomplishments.

Bring others with you.
