How to Invest Smarter After the Recession

Been listening and reading his thoughts for years. He is so right, over and over again! Saving more and living with a little bit less would make all the difference. God bless John Bogle.

It is always refreshing to get current views of smart people like Mr. Bogle. I agree that, many people getting ready to retire will have to temper their expectations. There are too many people out there who expect more income when they are retired than when they were actually working and that is just not realistic.

I am also a staunch believer in keeping costs down. My favorite quote is :Look after the pennies and the dollars will look after themselves". Mr. Bogle rightly points out that many fund managers charge exorbitant fees for their services and thus, Wall Street makes more money from average investors than they actually make themselves over time.

If your readers take anything away from this interview I hope they remember "cost reduction" in their investing strategy. As Mr. Bogle points out, it is crucial.

Thanks for bringing us the wisdom of Mr. Bogle.

If you get him again, ask him about his takes on ETFs, the effect of the 1981 tax cuts on the economy and markets---and why the tax cut thing failed in this decade.
