9 Signs of America in Decline

The bottom line is that the United States has grown too big for it's economic and political systems. We've doubled our population in just under 60 years. The ultra rich simply move or give their money away (i.e. Gates). There are not enough corporate tax breaks and benefits to bring business to the United States. Since the US taxes it's people on citizenship and not residency; Americans simply leave. We either need to change our economic and political models or we need to reduce the number of people...good luck with that.

America will only return to greatness when companies (american) invest in the USA by building plants and opening offices here not across the globe. Government must not be the number one employer in this country, free enterprise and little government intervention, is the key to success.

Sadly but truth this country is starting to look like a 3rd world c. But it is also truth that it is not over till it's over so i believe that with the help of the population asking the government for better education and controlling all those fast food restaurants, and other junk food that is easy to find in stores, super markets, etc. with these 2 things people would be not just smarter but would act better, would fight for its rights (in a smart way), feel better (happy), wont need that much healthcare and the rest of the points will been taken care of when the time goes on.

I continue to have great faith that our elected officials will guide us back to world prominence. They have our best interests at heart.

Done with you, why don't you kiss my ruby begonias? You're about as sharp as a marble!

Those are the real issues! We can't just give up. We have to stop trading with countries that have irresponsible governments. We have two searches going on. The first is survival and the second is a good quality of life.

The last statement in this article needs a bit of tweaking.

He needs a lot of help from educated, healthy, and employed citizens determined to spread the wealth.

It should read:

He needs a lot of help from educated, healthy, and employed citizens determined to create the wealth.

You truly spread the wealth by first creating it. The government has yet to ever create any wealth. They can spread the wealth created by others and obstruct them from creating more till there money is gone. This is a paraphrase from Queen Elizabeth of England concerning the British economy.

To drpauljconway, I agree with most of what you stated. Just remember one thing. You can't change human nature. There's too much greed out there.

There's a country song: "You got to stand for something", or we'll fall for anything. And we are falling. Real solutions will only come from affected people, those that are in the playing field, and NOTfrom the top-down. A possible solution is that we Americans stand for Fair Trade and that we set a standard with a responsibility for Human Rights and World Ecology. These demands on the American worker causes our costs to be higher, hence the outsourcing, job losses and decrease in manufacturing. By agreeing to do business only with entities that abide to these standards, then we can be on a more level field, and as a byproduct create a better working environment not only here, but abroad. peace out, doc

The 80's were great. Stark language. No politically correct sensiteeevs. King of the mountain competition and creative destruction in the economy, a net plus. Huge growth after Carter's crippling malaise.

America doesn't have to endure mediocrity unless it wants to keep believing these kinds of articles. All it has to do is lower corpy tax rates to 8%, lowest in the world, and watch trillions of international dollars flood back into this country bringing unemployment skyrocketing down to 4% within the year. Will politicians do that? Nope. The like and believe in government too much. They would rather have government over private enterprises. They would rather have government services than private dynamism in the marketplace.

If America dies, its the citizens who are to blame for letting it happen by 525 complete and total derelict doorknobs in DC.
