How to Live Happily on 75 Percent Less

I've lived without the newspapers, the nightly national news, and weekly magazines. My live is now 100% better. I know this story in the Bush years would have read completely different. Then, "look how the wars have forced regular people out of work and making real sacrifices." Now, "isn't this recession great? More people should be doing without for the good of us all."

Complete and total ignorance on a large scale.

The entire liberal premise is wrong. This country thrives on exceptionalism, you can be as successful or unsuccessful as you want...provided the government will get out of the way.

It's time to get back to what America is supposed to be. This is a free country, if you can't make it in CA, move somewhere else, try working in a different field. You're not stuck being destitute just because your job went away.

Uncle Sam needs to go sit down, shut up, and get out of the way while we still have a country left to rescue.

of "Pull yourself up by your bootstraps." HOw exactly does one do that when they have no bootstraps? It's time for us all to accept America and the middle class way of life as we knew are no more.

Good, solid, corporate jobs that provide "security, stability and comfort" no longer exist. We are becoming a nation of temporary, contract workers who put in 50, 60 or 70 hour weeks for a company and receive only a paycheck, no benefits: no health insurance, life insurance, disability insurance,no pension or 401K, no tuition reimbursement, paid vacation or paid sick time. It's time we wake up and realize the government needs to provide or mandate those benefits before we all wake up bankrupt and homeless.

This is America and you can become as successful as you want to be. The is no reason to accept the "new normal".

I'm 72 and have as much muscle, may be more than in my thirties. height 6 foot at 170lbs never smoked or been over weight have been going to the gym for past 10 years try for 5 days per week for at least 50 min rest at weekend. Do about 70% weights use heavy weights and work hard. Check with yor doctor before you start as weight traing pushes your blood pressure up. Its very true to say if you dont use it you loose it.
