If this country is this broke why

doesn't the Presidential commission recommend that the 47% of the nation now not paying any income tax start paying their fair share (that is half the nation).

Not only are they not paying income tax but they get money such as the earned income tax credit, foodstamps, wic, free lunches at school for kids, housing subsidies, medicaid, daycare subsidies, etc. etc. etc.

whay doesnt the goverment say what they really mean. That we are all pretty much going to work till we die. If we're lucky enough to be able to do that, because our economy is basically a train wreck and there is no help for any of us when we reach retirement age. If we even make it that far.

Social Security would still be SECURE if the money was reserved for it's original intent of being for those who paid into the fund (not for SSI) & if the govt. would not borrow from it without ever reimbusrsing the amount.

In the name of cheap foreign labor, huge number of expatriates are employed by corporations under H-1 visa when citizens and permanent residents are not either finding job or losing jobs everyday. This effects employment data, spending and individual savings. On the contrary unemployment benefits, medicaid expenses, food stamp, Social Security relief etc. burden the national exchequer. Stock market zigzag playing does increase daily turnover, but shedding market cap. Government and the economists understand these well. Than why measures like framing a salary structure for corporations and hire citizens to whom government woe obligation. The amount the so-called cheap labor is paid can be paid to the local workforce. Labor dept. is far too lenient in allowing import of foreign labor without scrupulously exhausting the process of finding local staff. Profit of corporations is of course an issue but that can be taken a side when the question of national debt and over all economy is the biggest issue at this point of time. The bone of contention should be generation of employment and maintenance of national budget in control. Today the country is dependent on imported consumer goods and some day it will be dependent on imported educated workforce. If unemployment persists our kids will not take higher education. Together with that, if retiring age in govt jobs increase just to delay the Social Security payments, there will not be hiring in govt departments which will result in further unemployment of college graduates.

in order to bid on federal contracts, companies have to be registered in the Central Contractor Registration at ccr.gov. You can get the "Getting Started" eBook by registering at BidTrakker.com and even get a report showing the dozens of contracts available to bid on every day.

There will be an unprecedented number of awards over the next 4 months before the stimulus package expires. Construction contractors, builders and subcontractors can send an email to doug /at/ reitmeyer dot com for immediate access to the information that our government is making available to the public.

New Jersey and New York contractors can attend a free presentation, "7 Keys to Federal Construction Profits" by attending the Build Expo USA show in Secaucus, NJ on July 21. Free tickets are available at BuildExpoUSA dotcom website/

Uncle Sam is pouring billions into the economy through federal construction contracts and all the training you need is at gcexperts dot com website- advanced training available for selected experienced construction contractors. In fact, client companies were the only bidders on 4 of their last 5 contract awards. Google "Commercial Construction Magazine" subscribe and read the article, "Show me the Money" that starts on page 54.

I suggested citizen lobbies long before I saw and article citing their arrival. As long as the largest corporations peddle influence on Capitol Hill, their ability to socialize costs, while privatizing profits, will expand at the average person's expense. They should not be SUBSIDIZED for sending our jobs overseas!

Starting a busines in a recession is like trying to put out a fire with gasoline! Won't say it isn't possible but it will be very tricky! The business sector is a very competitive arena! The competition is getting stronger every day and the business model of yesterday no longer applies today! I see more and more empty commercial buildings, more houses boarded up, more eating establishments closed, and just about any business or service you care to mention has closed or consolidated to reduce costs. Even hospitals have consolidated to curb costs and maximize profits leaving the once busy buildings set empty and boardered up.The manufacturing industries have been driven out of business by cheap foreign labor. Law suits have destroyed the balance of the manufacturing industries and frivolous law suits are the business persons biggest fear. Insurance premiums rise at an unsustainable rate of 4%/yr and taxes are right behind them! So the dream of owning a business and doing what you love and making a lot of money doing so can go from a dream to a nightmare at the speed of light, with one law suit or a competitor opening up business right next door! For business to thrive and prosper, we need to reign in the sharks of the legal field with tort reform! We need to put the tax man on a budget and make them see reality by not choking all the profits from the businesses in the form of new and increasrd tax rates or more businesses will fold along with the jobs, products and services they once served.

No question about it - we are all on our own, going into the future. Is this a new forcast? It shouldn't be. For ever - we have ALWAYS been on our own.

There is nothing to get used to - except the myth that someone began spreading that somehow this is a new concept for all of us to learn or expect. Give me a break - this is the way of life, period.
