How to Plan For a Double-Dip Recession

In the 1950’s this country had plenty of good paying jobs and we were a debt free nation. But, our politicians in both parties have completely sold us out, since that time. All these stupid trade agreements like WTO, NAFTA, and GAT have enabled corporations to seek cheap labor overseas, just that simple. They can profit more by paying slave wages overseas than by paying a respectable wage to Americans here at home. Also, millions of jobs are being taken up by illegal immigrants.

Wake up America, why do we just keep voting in the same old politicians that have sold us out to corporate crook. They are making fools of us but we are slow to learn. It is the hierarchy in both major party that have done a job on us. Donald Trump, told it like it is…..he said that we should levy import taxes on Chinese and all foreign goods. But immediately the free trade advocates start screaming that protectionism would start a trade war. Trump says so what, we would have been better off had we never traded with any country over the past twenty five years as we have been running a humongous trade deficit in the billions every year.

Also, who made us the protector of the whole world? Of course the defense contractors and producers of war machinery twist the arms of legislators and grease their campaign coffins with so they will sign off on just one more conflict without any declaration of war as required by our Constitution.

Furthermore, they even did away with the military draft. They, being the members of Congress so they won’t have skin in the game in terms of injuries and blood of their own relatives. They reason that why not let the poor that can not find jobs join the military and serve in our mercenary armed forces. That also makes it much easier for politician’s to sign off to go to war when they can be assured that their own won’t be shot at.

Finally, when we deviate so far from our original Constitution and continually fight in un-declared wars all over the world how can we not expect to be on the road to bankruptcy? Remember what happened to the once great British Empire!!!!

Yes folks this is for real. Our company will pay your unsecured debts & you pay our company the reduced amount. You are looking at around 50cents on the dollar at worst. This is how it works, your debts are paid off in months not years (around 6 months) at that time your credit report will read "paid" making the impact on your credit much less negative than traditional debt settlement companies. Your creditor is COMPLETELY PAID OFF. We have investors that provide the funds to secure your settlement. This is new & the better way to do things finally a company that gets it!!. Call me direct @ 714-348-6169. Or 800-380-0184 ex 722. Gabriel

I think this guy's telling you how to defend yourself in a helpless economy. Not talking about a macroeconomic fix or the left-right stalemate in American politics (which itself is just an emotional theater / outlet for some but not really coming to terms with true challenges for the American way of life and capitalism) as the folks below are obsessed with.

Totally disagree with this statement. First, if more people retired at 65 or younger there would be more jobs available for the upcoming workforce. These younger workers would contribute to Soc Sec and thus keep it funded. Second, how do you expect people to delay retirement when more and more workers 55+ are loosing their jobs and cannot find employment because of their age. I've been unemployed 3 years - have 40 years clerical experience - but I'm 61 and no one wants me. And no, I wasn't expecting a salary comparable to my last job; just wanted to work -- didn't matter. Resume and phone interviews qualified me for many an interview. One look at me automatically disqualified me. Yes, age discrimination exists. In the first year alone I submitted over 300 applications! Last, but not least, why postpone retirement when you can adjust your spending so you can enjoy life for as many years you have left. Yes, people are living longer, however, people are also becoming ill quicker and health matters prevent many from enjoying 'the golden years.' So, tighten your belt; learn the difference between want and need; live each day as if it were your last. Live, love and laugh -- great rule to live by.

This is basic economics- If we tighten fiscal spending especially on the government and coporate level there will be nothing to stimulate a dying economy. To quote Stephen Colbert "When your starving is not a good time to go on a diet." Forget basic economics this is basic logic.

There you fools go with the 'dump Obama' talk. Why weren't you calling for Bush's head when he was running the ship of state aground?

Prepare now by stocking the pantry. There is a great blog that helps you understand how to do this. http://blog.TotallyReady.com Food prices have been increasing and now is the time to stock up. Then when there is a crisis you will be able to save the money you would have spent on food for other things. Also, when you have food stored you never have to pay full price at the grocery store again, you can wait for the sales to replace what you have eaten, always beating the inflated prices. Check out the blog. Don't be the one who is hungry and trying to figure out how to feed the family.

Fred,

What a sorry, paranoid life you lead in the greatest country on earth. Go out and look at nature for a change. Think The Bama will be a dictator of the US? I think not, even though he does.

way #11 ends with "You are on your own". Yes, it generates way#12 : Be prepared for the safety of yourself and your family. When there are more hungry/desperate people around you because of the recession, crime will be on the rise specially in the urban areas. Don't expect prompt help from law enforcement due to cuts of local government services, including police. Reinforce locks, doors, alarm system... of your home, exchange emergency phone number with your neighbor(s), learn self-defense, arm yourself (legally), exercise extra caution when leaving home before sunrise and after sunset.
