This article is silly. These companies all laid off 10's of thousands and are now hiring back in the hundreds(or barely breaking the thousand mark)?
What these companies did was layoff from sectors of their business that were no longer profitable (or viable) and are now reinvesting in different business units that are more viable. Very simple. But aside from maybe Macy's...they arent hiring the "same people to do the same job".
Yes, it's true that many of the people they laid off likely could have been reallocated to these positions. But that's what happens in recessions. Cut jobs & re-hire for half the cost later if needed again. Sad, but such is life.

Perhaps the public would be better served if the authors of these articles would take a good hard look at the ages of the people unemployed for good and all and the ages of the replacements.
Then the greatest crime against the workers of this country EVER just might be exposed for all to see.

This article is a joke right? So, out of all of these companies, they are hiring back a fraction of the people that were fired. Fired over 10,000 people, hiring back about 835. I work in finance in NYC and find this pretty disgusting.

I was laid off last summer when my company lost a major client and had to let people go. They're now advertising my position at less than 1/2 what they paid me. Evidentally 20 years experience can't compete with cheap labor.
It's a doubly whammy. Employers are offering less compensation for job titles while the feds are trying to create inflation so they can pay down the deficit in less valuable future dollars. The irony is that the politicians in power have no intention of cutting spending and/or reducing debt because that would be tantamount to admitting they're fiscal policies were wrong.

Help is needed for my friend who is eighty-five years of age and on his death bed. His dying wish is for his wife to bring his lawyer and his doctor by his death bed, placing each one on opposite sides of the bed. His wife is seventy-nine and cannot possibly handle his request.
In his languishing hours he is saying that Our Lord had died between two thieves and he wanted to do the same. Can someone help with this, for he is sinking fast ! And think of it, this failing man was a full-fledged democrat.

Only 2 of these companies create wealth - add value to a product. Manufacturing jobs need to return to turn the economies mess around. How about an article on the new manufacturing jobs created in the past 2 years, like at the new Kia plant in West Point, GA. Plus there are plenty of smaller operations that have opened up in that part of GA and AL to provide materials and services to the Kia plant. We need more of that kind of job growth.

HOGS IN POLITICAL TROUGH
The warthog reminds us of the many political hogs waiting for the proper moment, to ambush the federal reserve, in looking out for the little piggies, awaiting a shot at honest tax payer's monies. Yes, politicians are one hog on another. For the most, just plain liars, with no conscious. Collectively, nothing but loose hounds in raiding out houses, usually constructed nearest all public podiums, where gluttonous mobs enjoy some relief from entitled hoodlums, gassing for the most, in the cause liberalism. Nothing but professional gobble de gooks. Listening to one of these dirt bags is like hearing a nest of hogs slopping in their troughs.
We need to put the warthog's picture on a three dollar bill in demonstrating how far this country has been leveled from a pseudo Republican/Democratic system, into a grab all, for the social engineering experts, who have never did an honest day's work in their worthless lives.
The hard working class of people are fed up with packs of professional liberals from all walks of life, of whom love to sycophant among themselves, as a little more eaten up with Karl Marx's works, with his fellow travelers lounging near their alter ego political assets, in lining the halls of Congress, looking for a hand out, in promoting revolutionary activities, through numbers of alien religious philosophies, setting up house amongst questionable conditions. America is being subdued through the alien encroachment of professionally trained Communist infilterators. Many have doctorates in theology. Tens of podiums are in the hands of these pro-LENIN/TROTSKYITES, being financed by the national tax payer. Reds in pulpits are some what a veneer to those who do not comprehend a STALINITE, in appealing to emotionally filled houses of hungry mobs. We call them drive-by pulpit pounders.
For sure, there are millions of light posts strewn through out America. Light posts could possibly save tax payers much money, if a proper use is made for them rather than lighting. Political whoredom's ties with the commie run influence through every thread of state must be quelled. Traitors should be dealt with swiftly.
Absolutely, socialism is a masterful stroke for universal financiers drive to level American independence, through an artificially designed Republic. With out free speech, man is nothing. However, mobs become inarticulate, when spoon fed the new gospel of feeding, at the trough of a paternalistic government. When in office political whores see nothing, know nothing and hear nothing, then liberty has dwindled and the death of a state is lain to rest.

Occasionally, we discover a dissident being killed some where in the Orient. and then we all of a sudden are put to test our social security. Actually, our misperceived individual security, as citizens of the United states, is in swift decline, as witnessing the field of journalism being compelled to smother such activities as FEMA and SWAT engage in. At the most, self-proclaimed dissidents are pretty well financed by governmental pseudo liberals, within the State Department. The public fanfare is fed this pablum to mulch through, in order to feed mobs of whom love to think that Uncle Sam knows father's best. From dissidents to mindless mobs, the system imports and exports fraudulent misconceptions that love on both sides of the fence through mobocracy at home, and willfully getting in Harm's way by dying as imported liberalism in some foreign rat hole.
We might say that Bill Clinton fits this mold. Too, that Janet reno is a good follow up in letting some people living in caves as hermits, contemplating as to whether the streets of America or barricades of bamboo, would be better off to join the emerging soup lines within America or to remain in silence at the grim thought of being impounded with American pseudo liberalism's post dying dissidents, out front, and facing the gestapo tactics of unproductive elements that compose police state intrusion on private property. On both sides of the globe, hermits seek safety and security from civilization and its discontents. The basic problem in America is unproductive elements, parasites,
are squeezing the national lemon dry. From idle-minded dissidents with valises filled with soaped up offerings of good will, to steel-helmeted anti-social renegades, our Republic hangs by a thread!

The future plans for our Republic has been well lain. Eventually, we will have three distinct levels of national society. The unknown ruling element will remain intact. Too, the unshakable middle class will stay afloat. As to the thinning, the slow climbers into the middle class will be completely eliminated. This will leave a national mob under the nation wide police state, as it expands today. All state and federal employees will receive the highest pay, in order to control them. Our Republic will be reconstructed, as to the have and those who have nothing but soup lines. Artificial inflation plus the professions striving from Medicare recipients will dwindle, while the undesirables are slowly fed poisoned food and the lack of medical care. A standing military will be well fed and clothed. This new dictator ship will be absolutely merciless. And the circus will proceed on its well planned events in crucifying any press club that fails to buckle down under physical and mental slavery!
