I don't know where you live but my electricity bill is up, my AT&T bill is up so is my internet, food, gas, public trasportation, shoes and clothing. Whomever's in charge of maing the determination every third quarter must not cover So. CA.

I have a personal story of my disability and how I ended up applying for SSD and I want to keep it personal. But I just wanted to let it be known that just because the commission says there's been little to none as far as increases go,

they are not telling the whole truth.

We as a nation would not be having this discussion if the democrats didn't start giving FICA money away to every tom, dick, and harry that didn't or wouldn't work in 60's under lyndon b johnson's "great society" and subsequent democratic administrations war on poverty. The war was never won and never will be won. All that was accomplished was to create a class of people feeding at the public trough. I remind people to read Thomas Jefferson (no relation to the sitcom Jefferson)and his warnings about the use of public monies or should I say "misuse".

I am not on ssi but most of you out there call it a intitlement. The Dems are the one that started this so called intitlement and forced us to put money in it. Know it is a problem because the politicans have stoled it. I am 61 and next year i am going to draw it not because i need it because it is my money not socilist goverment.

Water bill up 100% in the last two years. Garbage fees up 50%, HOA fees up, taxes up on home up. Where does it end or when do the feds get it. Our lawmakers should be forced to give up there COLAs and raises. Hey! they should be on Social Security too.

R. Burnam of TX 11:34AM November 20, 2010

Congress voted to not get their automatic pay raise last year and recently voted to not get one in 2011 either. For 73% of seniors, Part B will remain at 96.40/month.

The items "going down" don't apply to me. I don't need TVs, computers, and new furniture in my retirement. What I do need is cheaper gas, cheaper gym membership dues (needed to keep us seniors healthy), lower HOA dues, etc. True I have Medicare and now since a reduction of doctor fees is looming on the horizon, fewer doctors will be accepting Medicare. In addition to Medicare, I also have to pay another $375 premium for medical in addition to Medicare. That's almost $500/mo. just for healthcare. So tell me, please, what is going down for Seniors.

As an aside, try filing a claim on your own to Medicare using their 1490S form. It took me 7 letters, 2 Appeals and one year to finally get a reimbursement I was entitled to. That was 2 years ago. Going through the same issue again this year.

I agree with you 100%.No that can't give the seniors raises, but they can raise our part b.Big deal they didn't raise it last year,no but they are making up for it this year, that amount could buy some groceries,or med's. Oh,they gave themself raises and it was a big one. Like someone else said stop helping the other countries, we need the help here.

Shirley of MA 8:00AM November 13, 2010

They obviously don't live in Southern Illinois because are prices are not going down. In fact they keep rising. Congress and Senators hope you enjoy your raises!!!

Carol (Pemberton) Hering of IL 11:33AM November 12, 2010

Maybe, now that Nancy Pelosi will not be jetting half way across the country,

enough money will be saved to give us Seniors a COLA. Congress

denied the Seniors a raise, but voted themselves a healthy raise. Seniors are going to have to band together to literally survive. I suggest an orgination

of seniors over 62 years of age to organize and march on Washington DC. We need more than the Tea Party to wake up our leaders and let them know that seniors vote also.

Bobbi of FL 10:40PM November 10, 2010

Everyone should be screaming about the fact that the upper echelon of government keeps getting raises. Congress gets big raises and I've heard they have excellent medical coverage.

With the bad economy, so many people out of work, a huge deficit,

government needs to freeze all pay in Congress and the Washington upper echelon.

I'd like to see our government stop giving away so much money to other countries.

Why are we all paying so much in taxes, and we don't get any say on how that money is spent?
