How Republicans, Too, Can Botch the Economy

Thank you, for writing an article that actually addresses the problem. Politcians are so busy 'wanting to get their way' on issues, they never fix anything. I, for one, would like to see how the new healthcare can work for people before it's scrapped. I don't understand why all of us are required to carry car insurance to drive, totally accept this, and act like it's unconstitutional to be expected to carry health insurance. Maybe the insurance companies are filling political and media pockets to keep it from coming to light because they will be expected to actually use premiums to pay for customer healthcare.

Excellent comments. It's rare to find a thinker in some of these commentaries.

Is there a govt. program that has ever worked and come under budget? What makes anyone think the govt. can spend your money better than you can. Its truely amazing how many Americans think the govt will give something for free. The govt cannot tell you that you have to buy something or go to jail (Obamacare). Medicare and medicaid are broke now. What do you dumb hippies think will happen when they dump 340mil people into it. We could get rid of 25% of govt employment and never miss a beat. I would be willing to bet we could get rid of most all govt jobs and and the private sector take control and do a better job (i.e. postal service vs. fedex or ups). Private companies must turn a profit to stay in business, while the govt can lose money hand over fist and just have us pay more in taxes. If we are serious about growth in employment, we should cut corprate tax rate to no more than 5%. Let companies keep more of its money so they can grow their business as they see fit. Pres. Oblama has never made a payroll, yet now he owns a car company and he's looking to take over the insurance and medical industries. As the great Pres. Reagan said, " Government is not the solution, government is the problem.

The link read Republicans too can botch the economy. CAN? They already did. It's their fault and their philosophy of trickle down, no government, let business do anything, that got us into this. And as proof, Clinton deserves part of the blame, too, because it was on his watch that he repealed the major law regulating business (called "Glass-Steagall"); that let the genie out of the bottle as predicted by many at the time. WHY? BECAUSE HE WENT ALONG WITH THE G.O.P. 1920s "THE BUSINESS OF AMERICA IS BUSINESS" PHILOSOPHY. Watch the G.O.P. continue to wreck things this way, again.

How are health care and energy policy "pet initiatives"? How and/or when did Democrats "promise" that the stimulus program, which as you know had to be scaled back to avoid a Republican filibuster, would be a "cure-all"? How do you propose the Democrats should have "solved" the foreclosure problem or "address" the national debt? And what on earth do you mean by claiming that Democrats couldn't "figure out what to do about the Bush tax cuts that are set to expire at the end of 2010"? Obviously, they *have* "figured out what to do" about them: renew them for all income levels except the top 5%. The problem is, the Republicans have declared that they'd rather eat their own children than accept anything but a renewal of the cuts for *everybody*. What you're doing is mouthing canards that the Republicans themselves have concocted in pursuing their policy of blind obstructionism, and it does a disservice to your readers to repeat this nonsense. And "Obamacare"? Please. The health care legislation that Congress ultimately managed to get past the Republicans and the Democrats' own Blue Doggers bears only a sketchy resemblance to what Obama actually wanted. The term “Obamacare” is an instructive term in what it reveals about the tactics of Obama's opponents. First, the term allows its users to avoid reference to “health,” “care,” or “health care,” and thus distracts people from the fact that the legislation does, after all, have to do with those things. Second, it frames the legislation as something for or about OBAMA rather than for or about US, and it permits the perpetuation of nefarious narratives such as the myth that rational health care legislation is something Obama is trying to force down the throats of a country that doesn’t want it. Please don't perpetuate this nonsense.

How the Republicans can also botch the economy? Hell, they already have, it was botched when BUSH was in office! Have people absolutely lost their minds when it comes to the lies and deceit the Republicans show time and again in their true backbone? I do not get it!

How could Obama's efforts to revive the economy work when you have half of the Congress logjammed, ill-wished and hi-jacked the faith and the recovery for the people? Just wait till the Tea Party nominees took over the Congress -- Gridlock would surely be a guaranty; and AMerica would surely be a true mess. But God forbids that from happening at the polls no matter what faint-hearted media said about Obama over the past months.

Who the Hell wants to go back to the Bushes. Send Karl Rowe to Iraq to mop the kichen. He's not fit to do anything else. The so called shoe in for Speaker of The House from Ohio is Rat. He has been in office for over 20 years. Do you really think he gives a rat's ass for us peon's?

Send him to Iraq to watch over Rowe.

Vote for Obama and hope he can do something about the nut from KY who yearn's for the top Senate job so he can screw over the rest of the Senate aides.
