20 Industries Where Jobs Are Coming Back

I have been working since I was 16, I recently had some medical issues and was terminated during my illness. Now every time I go in for a job interview I feel I am discriminated against due to my age and health. I do not have a college degree but I do have a high school diploma and approximately 35 years of work experience. Why is it so hard to get a job that offers benefits and a resonable salary?

I was laid off when I was 58 years old (really bad timing). Now, a year later, at 59, I'm not even considered for a job. AND, when I had a job back in May, I was bullied for 1 month and 1 week, couldn't take it, and left. Other people around my age are having problems becoming employed. Is age discrimination and bullying allowed in Texas? For folks like me, it's a "catch 22" given the raise in retirement age, and being "too old" for the work force.

Long term care facilities are not laying off nurses. Check Career builders in your area to see what is available. In the midwest most long term care nurses are hired on the spot and make more money than hospital nurses. Have you checked with agency nursing companies? They are always looking for staff. Have you talked to hospice organizations? When times are slow nurses need to be open minded. They may have to work shifts they don't like but it will only be on a temporary basis.

I had been in a support role at my last workplace, and had been promoted. Here's to hoping that what is in this article is true!

Why are their so many pepole that can't get jobs? Is it because they have no high school Education? I've seen many people that don't have a high school diploma but seem to make it work for them. They get a good job with a good salary while others that have a higher education recieve a lower income. Why is that?

IF THERE ARE MORE JOBS IN HEALTHCARE THEN WHY IS IT THERE IS NO NEW HIRING INSTEAD SOME HEALTHCARE PERSONNELS ARE BEING LAID OFF? I LIVE IN THE WEST COAST AND MY SISTER IN THE EAST COST AND BOTH OUR HOSPITALS ARE LAYING OFF PERSONNELS. MY FRIENDS IN THE MIDWEST SAID THEIR HOSPITALS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME THING.

do you see at some point in time that there will be a need for Date Entry clerks in the near future for those who have a strong background in that field

I don't know about Utah, but Texas has a "non-disclosure" law for ex-offenders. In the case of a felony, you have to wait 5 years after you complete your sentence or probation, but you can request that your record not be disclosed on background checks. When you get this non-disclosure set up, you can legally say that you have NOT been convicted of a crime. You need to see a lawyer and the fee will be about $1,500.00. After being denied several jobs, I think you'll agree that it's worth the price. Google it and see more details. You will also find dozens of lawyers willing to help you...for a price. Like I said...I don't know about Utah, but they probably have a similar law. There is a good chance that Utah is even more lenient.
