To me, paying down a debt, whether it is a credit card, mortage, my kid's student loans- brings me a sense of satisfaction. I would prefer the sensation of satisfaction to the less rewarding sense of physical pleasure that buying a new gadget, a nicer car or a fancy dinner gets you.
