I needed to amend the comment I made about visiting the Southern States to

every state in the good ole" United States. Poverty is on the rise. Have you

ever gone up to a person who live son the street and talked to them and try to

find out how they ened up there? There is a large majority of Veterans of Foreign Wars who live on the street that join the service, are taught to fight and are never taught not to fight. They have no way of dealing with what they

have been through and families are having a hard time dealing without care from

of Veteran's Affairs, run by the good ole" USA". I love my country and would do

anything they ask of me but it is soooo hard to stand back and see these people not being able to fit back into society. Homelessness is a problem that,

regardless of how the economy is, we need to take care of our own. You talked

about the HAVES & the HAVE NOT" and the salary median is $104,00. That is

a joke.

I like the way you phrased your society levels, well to do and average. Do you

not figure the low-income people at all. i wa working and made fairly good money and then got sick and could not work anymore. Because of the income

I did make, I received an amount from Social Security which is BELOW poverty

level. it is well and good talking about how much better things are here than

some of the countries around us. THAT IS NOT OUR PROBLEM. We need to fix

America and not other countries. We need to do the things that need fixing here than anywhere else before we give billions to other countries.

I want to know why we keep giviing foreign countries so much money and we are suffering for it. Our National Debt could be wiped out if we wiped out half

of what we send to our "Foreign Allies". We should line them side by side and

see how they are using the money. For years it has been used to develop wea-pons of mass destruction against USA. This makes no sense. We give and give

and give and the money we give is taken out of our economy and we have tax

raises, loss of jobs. if Mr USA would come and spend a little time with us in the

Southern States of the good ole' United States and taken on a tour of the South with the people who live here instead of politicians, you could get a better picture of what we have to live with and in.

How refreshing to hear something positive about our current economic climate. It's so easy to put a negative slant on things. I recently discovered another article on poverty which backs up this point of view: http://www.mercatornet.com/articles/view/time_for_the_good_news_on_poverty/

It helps to keep a balanced view on life!

@Michael Ley:

Lots of places have lower unemployment than we do. Looking just at data from 2010, I see around 50 other countries with lower unemployment, including Russia, Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Armenia, Canada, Singapore, etc.

There's plenty of other good things about the U.S. but right now we really do have high unemployment.

I once talked to someone from Afghanistan and they thought I was rich because I had one apple tree. I keep that in mind when ever I feel sorry for myself.

An unimployment rate of 9.4% is also an employment rate of 90.6%. Where else in the world is the employment rate sitting at over 90%?
