Apple products have the highest reliability of any commercially mass produced items. Period.

A much more impacting and effective design woul be a Death Star shapped like an Apple. In term of distance between points, the sphere is the most efficient.

Imagine driving on 280 and suddenly be faced qith this huge Apple shapped building. You would be certain what that is, that's for sure. This would be a true legacy... So cool...

Where do you think Apple products are made? Foxconn, in China. I've taken apart quite a few Apple products over the past few years...all for repairs. Unfortunately, Apple's very good at form. Not so much on function. And definitely sucks @ repairability. I suspect this building will reflect the same qualities. I feel bad for their physical plant managers already.

Our office has both Macbook Pros and Thinkpads as options for users. I wish the whole office was equipped with Thinkpads. I say that, as I type this on the Macbook Pro I chose for myself.

Hey Apple? Before you build an edifice to signify your hubris, how about throwing a few bones (dividends) to your shareholders. You obviously have the cash just sitting around.

Some economists have noted that companies which build grand headquarters tend to be at their apex; with most of the stock growth is behind them. Well designed buildings are great for a community, but is a palace good for stock holders or buyers of Apple products?

An issue the Pentagon won't have do deal with are earthquakes; how well will Apple's glass building handle earthquakes? Plate glass windows in Tokyo didn't hold up at all during the earthquake last March which was 230 miles away.

Such a building should be part of resort style development containing various residential forms, recreational facilities and parkland. It should be designed so most people could walk or cycle to work. In fact, I would be very surprised if this was not already the case. Has anyone seen the drawings?

This makes about as much sense as all the criticism Apple received on the design and cost of it Manhattan retail store. The one by the way that has the highest sales/square foot of any store in Manhattan.

If you want to keep buying cheap (excuse me, "value") netbooks and shopping at big box stores replete with junk sourced in China, be my guest. But, please think a bit before you start criticizing one man's attempt to build a space consistent with the design and quality of those found all over the world, other than in the US.
