Will 'WALL-E' Make Us Greener?

This whole concept of green technologies making the human race more ecofriendly has taken an extreme turn with WALLE. However inoxious and charming, the carton drives home the point that we need to create an exterior independent control on humanity to enssure the survival of the global ecology. Former Vice President Al Gore talked about having such a control in the form of an eco consciousness. The Neo Cons deniability focuses destroying anything that enhances such an eco consciousness. That would be bad for the multinational corporations who stand to lose profits from conservation. According to Dan Danzi, Mamalestian-American professor of ethics and law, there are forces at work that are discrediting anything that attempts to educate and enhance a social ecofriendly consciousness. These malevolent forces are described in the book The Balenyata. The Balenyata expatiates all the details of social consciousness and why it is necessary for the survival of human civilization. The Balenyata is also replete with stories of short term greed and myopic selfishness that spelled the doom for those cultures. I agree with Dan Danzi that this cartoon is a Balenyata like fable that in reality is more realistic than the we as a society realize. Thank you Mr. Dan Danzi!

although its doubtful it will change our behaviour..i think that misses the mark, we in fact should be changing our behaviour and not because of a nice but ultimately meaningless movie, but for our kids who will only curse our generation in the future dealing with our mess.

I doubt it'll help us change the human behaviour. People must have seen the movie, enjoyed it and then forgotten it.

WALLE was found to be quite entertaining. What it didn't portray for the adult theme of courtship; it displayed a cute little robot with the overwhelming task of re-arranging all of earth's human trash.
The trash thing is poignant but for future reference will not make a lot of difference in how mankind addresses our big mess. We live in a throw away society; and it's all the curb-pickers can do to keep it at bay. But God bless them anyway; the cliche will always be a reality...one man's trash is another's treasure.
There is another, I feel, a more relevant topic that must be given serious thought; man could handle his trashy problems much easier if he will humble himself and come to grips with his spiritual condition...that is, our personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Then we will know how to deal with any issue that we get ourselves into. Think about it.

"Umm, if Blade Runner, Running Man, Escape from New York/L.A., hell, even Fifth Element, didn't change our behavior about the environment, then I doubt a Pixar movie will have any effect on our behavior."
Look at the $4.00/gal can do to people behavior in this country right now, $10/gal will sure do it. Sorry....but it's true.

I abosolutely loved the love story between Wall-e and Eve. Hey I admit it im 27 years old and still a kid at heart. I have seen this spectacular movie twice already and will probably see it a few more times as well before buying it when it comes out to dvd before christmas. Now to all those that loved this movie as much as I did ya'll on my side thats great. To that jewish guy that blogged and complained about the potty humor in other films and blah blah blah you know what you want some whine with that cheese jewey cause thats what you getting. to all the go green people that commented and blogged here KNOW YOURE ROLE AND SHUT YOURE MOUTH Im tired of hearing about youre hot headed opinions on a movie whose message was more about a love story between two robots than about the enviornment in general. You green heads want a movie to discuss i suggest Ferngully the last rainforest or as you greenheads call it the last greenforests hey i aint hatin on y'all but y'all complain too much about green this and that and about why we shouldnt have plastic bags in stores anymore cause its hurting the enviornment i think plastic bags are great. The world's going to hell in a handbasket anyway so complaining about plastic bags aint going to help. Finally Wall e was awesome I fully endorse and support this movie i hope this blog of mine entertained y'all and educated the children yes this was educational too

I was disappointed to see the Pixar people jumping on a flavor-of-the-week bandwagon, meaning the anti-corporate (BnL = Walmart, anyone?) greenie fad in Wall-E - and I say fad because it's the third time it's come around in just my lifetime, only to have the feel-good herd lose interest and move on after a couple of years. The hypocrisy of such silliness being put out by a large, multi-billion dollar corporation, being shown in corporate-owned theaters, to mass consumers who presumably paid money to sit there passively and stuff their faces with over-priced, high calorie snacks, who will then leave the theater and get into their fossil-fuel burning vehicles and drive to the nearest store to buy Wall-E merchandise for their kids, is laughable. However, people will eat it up (pun aside), and will "feel" better for doing it (and isn't that the most important thing?). Aside from the heavy-handed social messages (and there are several of them in the movie), Wall-E is stuffed full of clinches and shallow formula story-writing which is typical of what passes for "entertainment" today, but which has largely been avoided (with some notable exceptions) by Pixar in the past. Oh well. I guess they know their target demographic, and I'm sure they'll rake in the cash (which is the only green that really counts) by the hundreds of millions on this one, too.

It's no surprise that the thin skinned Orwellian hotheads on the right have found yet another victimizer to whine about. In addition to being victims of everything from the mythical liberal media to the weather channel to the Dixie Chicks, now the poor souls have to deal with a popular family movie with a healthy message. WHAAAA! As John Stossel would say, "Give me a break!"

I for one LOVED this movie and am enjoying seeing all these anti-environmentalists so angry. Imagine if Pixar had put out a movie about the world being round during the middle ages. The same type of person would be complaining.
This movie is overwhelmingly beautiful, a masterpiece, and is one of the ten best movies ever made.
And Jimmy I agree with everything you said except the typical Jewish movie thing. That's just blatantly bigoted and disgusting, and does nothing to help your argument.

Normally, I would pass on an antimated film, but I was intrigued by the premise of the film which was two robots falling in love amid a deserted planet full of garbage. I liked the 2 underlining themes of the movie, that overconsumption of products is filling our landfills to the brim and that humans, generally, are getting more obese as they are not as active as they should be.
I think adults will get more out of this film than kids because they are a lot of things in the film that adults can relate to such as the rubiks cube, zippo lighter, the 'hello dolly' vhs tape and the 'lido' deck of the spaceship. I think some of this goes over the heads of the kids.
I would recommend this film to anyone who cares about our environment, romance and our future here on this planet.
