Is Oprah's KFC Promotion Hypocritical?

I too am very disappointed in OW choice to promote such an unhealthy and cruel food as KFC supplies. The meals are filled with trans-fats and MSG. And of all the "food animals" chickens are horrifically abused from birth to slaughter. OW could have done so much more by giving away baskets of fresh fruits and vegetables. It would have supported a sustainable and compassionate food choice. Go Veg www.humanemyth.org

For me Oprah has been the one person out there with real power to sear people away from cruel meat - and all those famous people with all that power that do nothing, was overshadowed bye Oprah, she had so much ability to make change - and now shes take it all away, promoting one of the cruelest food companies world wide - im so saddened by this, does this mean Oprah actually couldn't give a toss? I suspect it does, this is devastating!

I'm very disappointed in Oprah. It's just unbelievable. She just sent a strong message to the country that she doesn't give a crap about animal suffering in factory farms, and I'm sure she knew what she was getting into. I do not like her anymore. What a phoney.

as a veg for 32 years it's unbearable and pathetic to see her promote

cruel meat which is garbagey rather than healthy simple cruelty free foods.....her effort on this is apaling and unethical considering her wealth....

Like the people who really need feeding the most have access to computers and printers. Give me a break. ow the KFC's nationswide are in a panic and don't have enough chix. Ours only give you 2 particular sides- not your choice. Then they said you couldn't use coupons with the same bar code. Well May 5th all the coupons downloaded had the same barcode. Sounds like a huge fiasco to me

There are a lot of family's that can't afford to eat out. This is a great way to help American's. Eveyone is always talking about countries where children are starving. Well, America has them too! How many people do you know that can give a good meal to everyone in the USA. It is not only unusal but one of the most awesome things that I have seen in a long time.

For those of you that talk about abuse to animals.....People eat this kind of food all the time. Don't be mad because she didn't give away fruit instead!

Oprah is deliberately encouraging all of America (especially black Americans) to happily wallow in ignorance while intensive controlled feeding operations (Factory Farms) ruin our environment. She wants us to sit back and stuff our faces with fiber-less diseased chicken flesh laden with saturated fat, trans-fat, hormones, pesticides, and who knows what else while helpless creatures are tortured from birth to death.

For all of the vegetarian bashers - it is not only about the treatment of living creatures - it is about people (who here wants to end up with cancer or heart disease) Should we just ignore the fact that over 80% of U.S. farm land is used to raise animals for food? What if that same land was used to grow food for direct consumption to feed actual hungry people. But, maybe in this ME ME ME era, that isn't as important as stuffing ones face with tortured animals.

Bout time Oprah got real and saw that we have people .. MANY OF THEM CHILDREN.. starving in this country "nightmares and anquish she is directly causing the ANIMALS"??.. get real.. this is great.. maybe some child will have a decent meal tonight becasue of this.. Maybe some poor eldery person wil be given a coupon for a "treat".. instead of the usual beans. or cereal.

Good for Oprah....a pox upon those who think "let them eat cake"

This is a great thing she has done for her country. If you live from payday to payday going to KFC is a big treat.....Thank you Oprah for helping people.....From all the working class..

She's just catering to her audience with the fried (and grilled) chicken. I'm surprised no one's brought up the racial undertones of that. To me it's comedic.
