Hey John of Tx, you need to have the car registered in your name for a year as well as prove that you have had it it insured in your name for a year on the day of the sale before you can qualify for a rebate.

in short, your scheme doesn't work.

I got to keep my big truck and still make use of the Cash for Clunkers. I love my truck and wouldn't think of giving it up. I would like to but the wife a new car because she deserves is. So here's how you do it.

1. Sell her exiting car, which doesn't meet the requirements for "Cash for Clunkers" to CarMax or anyone else.

2. Go and buy a 1960's care for 500 or less, plenty of them around.

3 Trade in the 500 dollar car and get the "Cash for Clunkers" 4,500 rebate.

4 The tax payers have generously given you 4,000 dollars to put towards your wife's new car.

Say Thank you Obama.....

We can all drive more fuel efficient cars starting today without spending a dime – it’s a matter of adjusting our driving habits. I learned a ton at an eco-driving workshop at this summer’s Midwest Renewable Energy Fair.
