Luxury Libation: Macallan 25-Year-Old Fine Oak

On a cold winter's day in New York City's East Village, my friends
and I went to a bar around the corner from where I lived and ordered my father's favorite drink: a rusty nail. One healthy dose of Macallan single-malt scotch and a splash of Drambuie, this hard-nosed cocktail warmed my throat, stung my nose, and made me a bit teary-eyed. But, boy, did it taste good—like peaches and blood oranges and honey and saffron. It evoked fond memories of my
father mingling with friends and family at significant occasions.

With the holidays at our doorstep, the award-winning Macallan 25-Year-Old Fine Oak is an exquisite gift, priced around $500 for a 750ml bottle. Devotees of the single malt will enjoy the rich, robust aroma, with hints of blood orange and wood spice, as well as coconut and vanilla flavors. It's sure to be a treat for any special occasion.

My first sip of scotch was Macallan and it ruined all other scotches for me. I'm forever cursed with a longing for a glass (or two or three) of this goodness, a wood-burning fireplace and a quiet evening alone or with friends telling vivid, mostly fictional stories about our lives. Thanks for highlighting a wonderful scotch.

As I read your post I can't help being taken back to a different time, a different place. A dark bar, just me and my scotch, nothing else seems to matter. The scent and the taste of what a truly fine beverage has to offer. I must confess I suddenly have the urge to say "make it a double on the rocks," but of course I can't since I'm at work and a watering hole it isn't. Thank you for your post I'm excited to see where else you'll take me!
