‘The Dark Knight’ on Blu-ray

My fiancé purchased a Samsung LN52A650 last month for a pretty amazing deal at the ailing Circuit City, but we're still looking into a Blu-ray player to complement our massive LCD TV. (Prices are getting better and better.) We hope to snag one sooner rather than later because The Dark Knight DVD and Blu-ray Disc finally hit store shelves today!

Warner Home Video is expected to ship more than 1 million Dark Knight Blu-ray Discs to retailers today. This bests Iron Man, which sold more than 500,000 copies during its first week, according to Video Business. Growth in the action genre makes sense; these particular movies appeal to gamers, especially those who own Sony PS3 game consoles, which include a built-in Blu-ray player. It's also likely that some PS3 owners will make The Dark Knight their first Blu-ray purchase.

The Dark Knight Blu-ray Discs will most likely boost the player's flat sales. Home Media Magazine interviewed David Bishop, president of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, who appears to be more optimistic: "The upside on all this depends on what happens at retail. All things being equal, it should be another 150 percent growth rate for Blu-ray. By and large, we can count on that piece of the business because there is going to be a level of enthusiasm about the format that people will recognize as a value and go out and purchase."

If you happen to purchase The Dark Knight on Blu-Ray Disc, let me know what you think!

I got the Dark Knight Blu Ray on the midnight release. I have a similar Samsung LCD tv the LN46A530, and PS3. I am not joking when i say that the IMAX scenes in this movie are the most amazing thing i have seen on my TV that i have had for 6 months. Me and my friend kept saying it felt like we were there and wished the whole movie was in IMAX. The rest of the standard format scenese are still amazing however as well. But i have been unbelievably shocked in the quality of picture on this blu ray.
