Fresh from a 12-day holiday vacation in Hawaii, the Obama family returned to Illinois yesterday for a brief visit. The future first family will check into the Hay-Adams luxury hotel in Washington on Sunday, just in time for Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7, to commence classes at Sidwell Friends School on Monday. Whew!

Although the Obama family will be staying at the historic Hay-Adams for only two weeks—they'll be moving into Blair House, the official guest house of the president, on January 15—it's a splendid place to crash. Not to mention it's a stone's throw away from the White House.

The storied Hay-Adams, designed in the 1920s, has the ambiance of a private mansion and is situated in Lafayette Square with views of Lafayette Park, St. John's Church, and, of course, the White House. The 145-room hotel (with 20 suites) is named after figures who lived there: John Hay, private assistant to President Abraham Lincoln and later secretary of state, and Henry Adams, a noted writer and thinker and a descendant of Presidents John Adams and John Quincy Adams.

The Obama family could presumably stay in either the coveted Federal Suite or the Presidential Suite.

The Federal Suite
This one-bedroom suite has two full bathrooms and a separate living room and panoramic views of the White House. The master bedroom features French doors that open onto a small balcony with a White House view. The living room has ample space and includes a large dining room table and a sitting area for meetings and entertaining.

The Presidential Suite
This penthouse suite has a master bedroom with views of the White House, a separate living room, and one and a half baths. The living room overlooks the White House, Lafayette Park, and St. John's Church. Like the Federal Suite, the Presidential Suite has a large dining room table for entertaining. It also features a gas-lit corner fireplace.

Here’s why no Blair House —

MESSAGE TO EVERY MEMBER OF CONGRESS:

When counting the electoral votes, either Congress finds by 1/8/09 that Obama, not being an Article II “natural born citizen”, fails to qualify as President whereupon Biden becomes the full fledged President under 3 USC 19 (free to pick his own VP such as Hillary) or thereafter defers to the Supreme Court to enjoin Obama’s inauguration with Biden becoming only Acting President under the 20th Amendment until a new President is duly determined.

The preferable choice, at least for the Democrats, should seem obvious.

The donors, in the very least, are stimulating the economy by parting with their money.

If all people with money would circulate it; this would stimulate the economy.

Those who have money, discretionary funds, should spend it, on American products and services.
