The Dark Knight has gone down in history as one of the best movies ever made. Just looking at the Internet Movie Database (IMDB.com) it only falls short of the shawshank redemption, Godfather 1 and 2 and some italian movie. To see the dark knight go down in the annals of history as one of our generations most prolific movies, it is a shame that "The Academy" has overlooked this groundbreaking piece of cinematic genius.

Does the academy even nominate movies people actually watch? Who even has heard of "The Reader," Seriously. These people need to get some brains.

What is your malfunction dude? Ledger did one of the best acting gigs in the history of movies. Not that good? YOu need to go home and give your brain an enema. Fool.

Thank you for the great article - Dark Knight was treated with disrespect and it is being PUNISHED for being so darn good. The Academy is angry that this film, this lowly comic book movie, has done so well and the truth is, it is better than any of the other noms. Michael of TX can eat bat guano. This movie is amazing.

they nominated, "The Reader", instead of "Dark Knight"! Unbelievable!

Do all Academy members vote for best picture? Do they see these pictures?

But, then again I still haven't gotten over "Out of Africa" winning over "Color Purple".

If I have to hear one more person say "Health Ledger is only getting this nomination because he died" I will go ballistic. I will say this, without any hestitation, Health Ledger's performance as the Joker was not only worthy to win Best supporting actor, but probably the best acting performance all year long.

Although I must say I do agree to some degree, I think there's a chance that if Healh Ledger was still alive he doesn't get the win or nomination even. Not because he didn't deserve it, but because the academy are a complete bunch of hacks that make picks based on getting ratings and choosing the same old movies over and over again.

The fact that he died is a crime, not just because we lost a great actor, but because if he wins everyone will just credit his win to the fact that he died, not because it was an absolutely brilliant performance.

This movie is far beyond your average super-hero movie. It is honestly the best movie of seen in years. It had amazing acting from almost every major actor (Ledger, Eckhart, and Oldman especially), phenomenomally directed, brilliantly written, amazing cinematography, great music, just an great great movie.

This was gonna be the first year I was actually looking forward to watching the Oscars. But these hacks reminded me once again why I never watch the oscars.

This was far from the typical superhero movie. It possessed great acting all around, with a superior performance from Ledger. It had unexpected twists and turns (something hard for a comic book movie to accomplish in today's predictable world where most of the time they just take events that actually happened in the comics and rearrange them instead of actually changing them and coming up with something new), and all the suspense of an Indiana Jones movie, where just when you think it's over, it turns out there's a lot more to go. Only it was better than any Indiana Jones movie.

This movie is the ONLY superhero movie that I have ever seen that is deserving of a best picture nod. It is the ONLY one that is truly great enough to be looked upon and judged against all other dramas and not just it's own little spandex wearing group.

It rises above the stereotype, and was one of the best movies I've seen in YEARS. The fact that it was snubbed is preposterous.

If you truly can sit there and say you thought that this movie belongs in the same group as X-Men or The Fantastic Four, than you must have seen a different movie.

$500+ million in domestic gross and "it simply wasn't that good"? Riiigghht...

With all due respect to Heath Ledger and his family, I really dont think he was that good in TDK. And lets be realistic: if Heath hadn't died, he wouldnt even be in the running for any this award. How about honoring his memory by not using his tragic death to drum up ratings?
