Why and How to Conserve Water In Your Home

My house has a crawl space that you can stand in. Being below grade, my sump pump runs somewhat even during droughts. I wish I could put in a cistern to capture all of this free ground water that is just wasted. It would be great to have a tank of saved water during drought periods. As the water is clean, though I would not drink it, it could also be used for gray water applications, like toilet flushing.

I have seen this at least forty times to many! For most toilets, it won't work -- they aren't built efficiently enough, and you will find you often have to plunge and reflush - more than twice! There go your "savings!!!"
