16 Ways to Make Yourself Unfireable

I agree that you need to stand out by proving you have the business's best interest at heart. However, working in family run businesses unfortunatley turns this into a negative since it typically shines light on family members not doing their job. Guess who stays and who goes? I was actually moved into a position of finding where the company was "bleeding". I discovered hundreds of thousands in lost collections because both daughters not only didn't want to put forth the effort, but did not want to make anyone else change how things were being done. Now I am under fire from all sides.

These are NOT naive tips. I employ almost every one of the above tips daily and those that know me at work will back me up. YOU WILL GO UPWARD AND ONWARD if you follow the advice above! It is mostly about attitude followed up by a good dose of aptitude; I am living proof!!!!

In an ideal world, this would be excellent advice - and I would still advise it regardless to improve the work environment and productivity - but authority in most companies is becoming increasingly detached from the worker. There is really nothing you can do to guarantee your job when the powers that be decide to lay off your whole department. This will certainly help people keep their job under stable economic circumstances (frankly I think it's what should be expected out of employees), but we aren't in stable economic circumstances right now.

Very naive tips. I don't like them nor do I find them useful.
