Hey,
I have a strange situation. I am an American citizen (born in US and lived there for 28 years), & I am a Swedish citizen (currently living in Sweden for the past 12 years with my family).
I still visit America and I even have sparsely used American bank account, which comes with a Visa card.
This Visa card comes with this coverage when I rent a car with it: "Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver – Receive auto coverage for damage due to collision or theft."
My Swedish Credit Card only pays me back the deductible for out of country car rentals (up to $1500), but not actual car insurance.
And normal Swedish car insurances don't offer protection for car rentals.
I usually pay for my travel flights with my Swedish card because I like the other insurances included, like cancellation insurance, doctor bills and emergency home transport, etc...
I can pay for the American car rental with my American Visa card, whcih gives me: Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver – Receive auto coverage for damage due to collision or theft.
From what you see in this post, do I need to buy any other car insurances/policies when renting a car in America.
What problems might I run into if I get in an accident, if I don't buy any other policies?

If you are travelling to Europe, there are different exposures you must be aware of. They also come with usual exclusions found on all rental car agreements e.g. no cover against damage to Windscreens, Tyres, Roof and Undercarriage. At this point, unless you purchase excess protection from the car rental-desk, you are left exposed. These policies are usually expensive (between £10-£20/day), and limited in scope.
