It appears that the prices for homes is still dropping and now is not the best time to buy.

This is silly. Home prices are a zero sum game. Every penny the price of homes drops is one less penny I, as a renter, will have to pay if I ever buy a home. Home prices dropping are the best thing which could happen for young people like me.
