My wife and I have just returned from a cruise.....post Costa Concordia. All the above info in this article is very relevant; however, one point could be enhanced. Under "Know the Vessel," something to know is that some deck levels do not extend un-interrupted from front to back (forward to aft). They can end at midship where there is an atrium, mezzanine, or other break in the level. then continue on the other side. The traveler must then go to a higher level then descend back down to the original level or in some way circumnavigate the break in the level. This can be very confusing especially during an escape in the middle of the night. We continually had to review the layout of the vessel to know how to reach where we were going.
