I was expecting updated advice for 2012, not advice that MAY have worked before the 2008 crash. This is just copy/adjust/pasted from every other financial website. And they all spout the same b.s. advice. "Often, it's a matter of getting to a supervisor or someone in the corporate offices."?!?!? Obviously, this author has never actually dealt with or worked in any call center, ever. It's literally impossible to reach someone that high in the corporate hierarchy via a customer service call. You'll go up one step, to a manager, and that's it.

Why would a credit card company lower your rate if they are making money off of you. I have great credit and tried several time to get my rate lowered and guess what? They said no. This is 2012 not 2002.

I'm a little stymied with Sears. They seem to be adding extra charges on to my credit card, and I just found out. However, when I finally checked the interest rate, it was 23%! I am upset, and have not used my card in at least a year, and it seems not to be going down on the balance. It just keeps going up without my knowledge obviously, or consent. Is there anything I can do?
