Good words and insight. However, I would have enjoyed more details - and explanations of:

-the diffs between any 1099-A received;

-and any 1099-C received;

-and what if they are received in diff years?

-what if a 1099-C is never received?

-the 4681 code seems to say that Bankruptcy 'may' protect you from income repercussions if this and if that...it doesn't seem clear-cut (eg, Chapter 7)

-it appears the Insolvency route only becomes available if/when a true debt cancellation is received (1099-C);

-Does the Bankruptcy protection only extend to the reportable income - and not the capital gains (figured from 1099-A)?

Thanks!

You should not do "cash-out refinancing," which increases your debt and, as we have seen in this real estate crisis, could lead to disaster. Only refinance with out cash out, check out "Official Refinance" for more refinance tips
