Totally agree with all of your points, except for #3, which needs a big caveat. While the actual tuition may be cheaper, this is sort of like the “sticker price” and really has little bearing on what you may pay. Financial aid is a big factor, and that can often be much better at a private Also, state school tuition varies a great deal from one state to another. Here in PA, Penn State is the most expensive public school in the country. Sending my son to PSU is costing me 10 times what it would cost us out of pocket to send him to Princeton.
