What Ron Paul Knows That Your Company Doesn't

There's no formula, no psychological manipulation, no special modus operandi... You want to know how Ron Paul attracts such a devoted following? It's simple: He speaks the plain, honest, truth with complete humility.

No bulls**t. No pandering. No dumbing down.

The problems we face are complex, and most politicians are unwilling (or unable) to confront them with any real depth.

Ron Paul speaks to us as ADULTS and explains things as thoroughly as he can, and without sugar-coating. He does not rely on stupid flag-waiving jingoism or blind optimism to make us "feel good" about America. And he doesn't rely on the false benevolance of government to try to buy support. He promises nothing but the freedom to live our own lives. And he has a decades-long voting record to prove that he means it.

In short, when a man of true integrity comes along, he doesn't need to motivate people. They will come to him on their own.

Maybe there is nothing marketers can learn from Dr Paul, other than in a political sense. Perhaps I was trying too hard to make a larger point, or to think about how to apply some learnings from his believers, no matter what each of us thinks about his political positions.

It is a topic of interest to me, because I am constantly surprised at how people are motivated.

Ron Paul is not an example of "marketing" just any old thing or movement.

Ron Paul has true believers because his positions on peace and health care are appealing to people thinking about moral issues in a deeper way than most Americans. This is not to say that any of Ron Paul's positions are practical enough in a selfish and political world to actually be enacted.

But to skip what Paul is saying and just try to emulate his "methods" in selling widgets? Good grief.
