I have always wondered if people who say they don't worry are really secret worriers at heart. I mean, why even mention it otherwise? My mother insists she never worries, but I really think she does.

In my family, we have two definite genetic types: worriers and non-worriers. I feel fortunate to be a non-worrier. But your advice for the worried at heart hits the right tones. I'll be sending part of my family here so they hear it from your lips instead of mine.

Seems to me that if you do this first instead of doing all that worrying part first, the worrying part will be unnecessary.

But if worrywarts have nothing else productive to do, then how to worry may be OK for them.

Have a good day.

Terrific post, Karen!

Worry has an evolutionary purpose, when we use it correctly.

There's a difference between useful/constructive and useless/destructive worry, of course. Many professional actors still suffer from stage fright, for instance, and so long as they aren't paralyzed by it, many find it gives them energy and helps keep their work fresh and sharp.

This is a good time, economy-wise, for folks to employ a little more energy, and to look at things with eyes that are both fresh and sharp.

However, it's also good (always!) to know when things are beyond our control, at which point it is indeed time to stop and enjoy the many good and pleasurable things that most all of us still have, recession or no.

Simply do not start worrying in the first place.

Worry has never accomplished anything and never will.

Make that never accomplished anything worthwile and never will.It is much easier to never start doing something useless and harmful than it is to stop doing it afterward.

If you cannot understand something this simple, then I worry about you!
