When a Job Title Means Nothing

Hi. In the absences of a decent time machine, fiction remains the most sturdy vehicle for visiting other eras.

I am from Eritrea and learning to speak English, tell me right I wrote the following sentence: "Yahoo! Reviewed these sites and found them related to music memorabilia kiss music memorabilia kiss."

Best regards :-), Vi.

That's quite diabolical, almostgotit!

... if the salary is much lower than the title suggests (as determined by Salary.com, etc.), you're being snookered. It shouldn't be that hard to figure out. Maybe you like being snookered, though, e.g., if you can use your "title" to snooker someone else. In the nicest sort of way, of course.

I've had the opposite experience. Not an inflated title, but rather a "deflated" one. At the time I was doing not only my job, but my boss' and my subordinates--yet only getting paid (poorly) for doing one.

I used to tell people I was a professional "glutton for punishment."

If you're getting an inflated title, well, okay. If you're getting a silly title, then look for another job. They're making fun of you and everyone else.
