Where I work managemetn keeps adding bodies to Siberia. They don't like you as an employee - Siberia. If they don't like you as a contrctor - you're fired. We, as an organization have a rotating door policy. Usually within a year we have all new contractors in place! We have lost (quit) about 6 employees last year (given the current employment environment) with more wanting to leave. We have lost many good people because they wouldn't play the games.

Yes, I've been in Siberia and yes, it took me a long time to leave. What looked like Hawaii when I started quickly turned to Siberia when the management that recognized and appreciated my abilities left the organization soon after I arrived. Believe me, it is true. No matter what you do you never get out of Siberia until you move to a new organization. Stay too long and your self-confidence is shot.

I am one of those "Siberian residence" ... I knew it was coming, watched it coming, but due to the economic dowturn, couldn't do much to prevent it! Yes I am looking to escape my sentence. As to "building a nicer cabin" I have made the decision to keep all my ideas to myself unless it makes MY life easier. And I have a lot of ideas!
