5 Habits for Creating a Career You Can Love

Great insight. It's easy to get so busy with your day to day tasks that you fail to think through what you are trying to accomplish on a bigger scale. It's like a swimming along in the current without ever coming up for air and seeing where the stream is headed. (Waterfall maybe?)

People rarely make a huge career killing decision, but because of a lack of self-awareness, I've made many smaller decisions that together lead my career in a direction I never wanted to go. (See an http://www.careerjockey.org/devil-wears-prada-article/ for my testimony to that.)

My experience has also led me to believe that many of our career mistakes are caused by our inability to take calculated risks. We then wonder why our careers seem to be moving in slow motion. If we did some analysis, we might see an underlying drivers like fear, a need for security or other motivation stalling emotions that make it difficult for us to take on a reasonable amount of risk. See http://www.careerjockey.org/leapwalking-article/ for a discussion on taking risks in our careers.

Hope this helps.
