Thanks sandy. I'm glad you found some things to connect with there. Breaking free of the inertia of that comfortable (or, as you point out, comfortably uncomfortable) spot can be a big challenge. It's almost like taking that one step - committing to making the change and actually taking action - is worth ten steps of forward progress. It's a bigger deal (i.e., more worth celebrating when people do it) than we typically acknowledge.

As I read your article I was thinking of the old adage that sometimes we are our own worst enemies. So many times we want to make a career change, but we continue not to take the necessary steps to make a change occur.

Your article offers very good advice to help someone begin thinking about where to start to actually make a career change. I loved your analogy of the dart board; how true it is that hitting the bull’s eye the very first time is highly unlikely.

With careers and jobs, people often get into a comfortable (or even an uncomfortable) spot, and it’s difficult to know what to do to get out of it and into something more rewarding.
