The Best Way to Quit Your Job

it's more difficult when you have a crazy boss who normally is on a defensive tone...the expectation is that he/she will try to shield her image by saying bad things about you the moment you turn your back on your first talk re resignation...

you simply wish never to cross path again with her/him.

Your link above "takes a look at Conan O’Brien’s last words upon leaving The Tonight Show" [http://www.seattlepi.com/tvguide/414559_tvgif22.html] seams broken, so I did some google search, and here a live link of it:

I was wondering the best way to present a resignation when discussing with the boss initially. What he asks why one is leaving in an emotional way. HOw should one respond to that. Any ideas please...?

Great ideas, WG! Wouldn't it be a wonderful workplace/world if EVERYONE knew this stuff? It should be taught to all NEW HIRES so that they know how to leave with class when the time comes! (I know, crazy idea, but it would make life easy for those left behind, wouldn't it?)

I always enjoy your information! Thank you!

That's a great idea, Kristina. I've never done that after leaving a job and now I find myself wishing I had!

I'd also like to add that following up with handwritten thank you notes the week after you leave will keep you in good standing with your old team. You never know if you might end up back with the company, and will want to leave with the bridge firmly in place.
