Most bosses (owners) will do whatever they can to make as much profit as they can by not hiring. They make each employees to take up more job responsibilities, eventually overloaded them. It ended up the work not completed on time, which will cause morale issues.

Managers of the modern era will always care for their own survival in an organization. They become a 'YES' man just not to create problems for them with the boss. Finally, they can't handle the day to day situations which will pass down to their subordinates.

The above situation will never change because of the mindsets and human characters of the modern bosses or leaders (Manager).

If you think the "7 Things Never to Say to Your Boos" is unavoidable and you must say "NO" to some of it, then be your own Boss. That's life.

Being the Boss has to do with a legal relationship. He or she is the person who hired you, or who is entrusted with managing you, or who owns the company. But being the Boss can have a very different meaning. You must keep on top of things. In an interpersonal relationship, it is you who should always lead. This is an informal thing. So any of the replies listed above shows that the person replying, i.e. the employee, is passively submitting to the logic of the question, rather than leading. 'This is not my job' sounds like flatly refusing an instruction by somebody who is entitled to give you instructions. That s not very smart. How about 'Sure. And have you thought about who is going to do XYZ in the meantime?' Morale: Sympathy and Empathy are not always the best thing. In doubt, make your boss wake up at night having sweaty nightmares about you. That is power!

Many new owners have had to learn to be frugal in their personal life and made many personal sacrifices, this does lead to a point where once he is drawing a salary at least equal to his best employee, he is able to save and spend that money in a very productive manner. Employees should not jump to the conclusion the boss is making huge amounts of money more than the employees, especially when he does save up and purchase something of lasting value.

As well if you are having problems managing your money and ask the boss for personal help, he must give you money from his pay check. You should not be upset if he try’s to help you manage your personal money-problems. For example an employee asked for $3,500.00 for the money to move into an apartment. Yet the same employee went out on the town on regular basis while the boss who loaned the money stays home because he cannot afford dinner and drinks on the town every week end. And when you do not pay him back the money it becomes clear you were not in a bind because of the unique circumstance you used as excuse but due to a lifestyle.

In the end, anyone being hired for a job at a small company with 2 to 10 employees, there is no limit to what is in your job description, maybe at large companies they have specialty jobs and someone who cleans the toilet. But at small companies you should expect to do any job that is not illegal or dangerous. Remember if you tell the boss you do not want to do a particular chore, you are telling him he should do it.

Yes most bosses have cleaned the bathroom.

The ultimate power an employee is get a better job.

The old idea an employee will work harder if you pay them more is untrue

Hard workers learn to work hard and that is how they always work no matter how much they are paid. On the other side a bad work has learned to never work hard and if you pay

It is important that employees learn what the bosses plan is and do all he/she can do to work 100% in the manner towards his/her goals are.

If you do it the way you think best but not the boss’s way, you may be working against him. Thus is the failure is because you did not help in the plan, and he will keep working around you (or without you) to make his plan complete and successful.. Suggestions are fine, but stay on the plan.

If you do his way and his plan fails at least he can know you and he did the best he could and he can reroute his plans. Failure is necessary to reach success. (Thomas Edison and the light bulb)

Employees should also realize the industry you choose and thus the business you work at may not be a very profitable one and if you expect too much you will be disappointed. There is not an UN-limited amount of money to pay incentive and pay that makes you feel properly compensated. Sometimes the best move is on to new industry not to gripe about the job you have now.

Often bosses work many more hours than employees and are not paid any more than the employees. Thus the bosses per hour pay in much lower. He may work those hours because the work needs done but there is not enough profit to hire more people. If he did not work these extra hours the business would close and the employees would loose their job.

I will add what I told the boss, who has favorites who only work half days, indirectly he wasn't doing his job when I showed him with statistics, that he loves to use, he had favorites who didn't work and I was tired of doing the best job I could. I didn't get a retirement party, needless to say, sponsored by the boss but did from close friends who knew me and liked what I did. 10 months later things have only gotten worse my friends tell me. The boss is still incompetent and his favorites still don't work.
