Why Most Managers Need Degrees

Hey Sam, I don't think your comment was fair. Perfect spelling isn't the only criterion for good writing. A spell checker can fix spelling errors. Perhaps the writer was careless. However, having typos doesn't automatically make someone a bad writer.

There are far more important components like clarity and style to consider when it comes to good written communication.

Karen, you must not have taken very many English courses. You are complaing how some of yor fellow employees do not write well. Take another look at your own posting. The word "sentence" is not spelled correctly. Not just once, but twice. Let me know which college you went to, so I'll know not to send my children there. Have a good one.

Have you looked at ASHIM.org? They have a certification that you don't have to have a degree to sit for...just IT/Healthcare experience

I have a Bachelors in Medical Radiography, with a minor in Radiation Physics. I work in Nuclear Medicine and do exactly the same job and get paid the same as hundreds of other technologists across the state. Most of the registered techs in the my state do not have anything but a technical certification. So while I don't need my degree to do my job,it did provide me with a deeper understanding of why things should be done a certain way. I do not look down on anyone that does not have a degree in my field. However, I cringe when people write poorly. I am shocked by how many people can't put a sentance together. So if you can do your job without a degree, good for you. But if you can't use proper grammar and sentance structure, go to college!

It may be true....but its a sad "truth" that 4 years of partying and probably drugs is even REMOTELY equivalent to even ONE year of actually performing in a particular job field!
