Why Your Boss Can Require You to Wear Pantyhose

The look a nice finished legs are long gone. I recently interview several people for an administrative job and out of 200 interviews at least 75% were in flip flops and casual clothes. Guess who got the job? Someone in the 25%

FLIPS FLOPS AND YAMS. Are you going to work or the beach? Bare legs look like what they are... ugly looking bare skin. Very young girls can pull it off but even that percentage is low. Let me put it this way. When you are not wearing hose… it looks as attractive as if you took off your make up. Fine, be comfortable I guess, but don't expect guys to be interested in it. I don't care how beautiful a girl is, she is always a little prettier with make up and hose (if wearing a skirt), otherwise wear jeans or a pantsuit. Having a nice outfit on with your bare YAMS hanging out is not an attractive look.

there is nothing in this world , nothing, that makes pretty woman look as sexy hot and feminine then when see wears with her outfit. my wife has done it for me for 30 yrs and she receives constant oral attention for it. i truly love her for doing it for me. so do a check next time girls, see if you get more glances with them on or with them off. believe me , it won,t be close

Why not try stockings of the thigh high variety? Don't seem nearly as hot.

Will you fashionistas please give up this war on leg wear. Stockings on legs are sexy. This ridiculous, bare legged trend (hopefully short-lived trend) has gone way too far! I've had enough of looking at feet, ligaments, arteries and scars acquired during a lifetime when I see a women wear a skirt/dress. Bare legs IMO are a clammy and boring! It started as an excuse to be more comfortable during the summer and now women are kidding themselves that it looks better. It doesn't! Not wearing hose is a “hard” look ladies.

Yes, bare legs, especially during warm weather is an option but women who have no business going bare legged are doing so when it's 30 degrees outside because they think it's chic. The best part of seeing a lady in a dress is to see her legs in nylons IMO. Sorry but hosiery IS sexy and that's why women have been wearing them for as long as I've been alive.

Foe those who think they're not in style. Any article of clothing if not worn properly such as ties, blazers and hats can have a negative impact on someones look.

You self proclaimed fashionistas should try steering women away from fake-n-bake tans, tattoos and wearing flip-flops every day and let them wear hose like ladies if they wish to do so.

A Leg Man's opinion!

The lawyer brother was right about how certain people have to wear certain clothes even if uncomfortable. It's a small price to pay to look good and look like you fit in the position, and it's a good idea to find clothing that fits you best and feels as good as it can. If a major part of dress wear were to change for one party, the other would want a large change as well, and then you could be left with an unprofessional look vs your professional looking competitors.

Pantyhose should be worn by all women. It doesn't matter what your legs look like. Pantyhose will make even tanned and toned legs look better. Please ladies wear your pantyhose, bare legs just don't look right. If I see a woman in a skirt or dress with no hose on, my first thoght is " if only she had pantyhose on"

Use calf high hose when you wear slacks.

No matter how young you are, how good your skin is, and how well dressed you are otherwise, bare legs look jarringly, aggressively casual, like going tie-less. Nothing can substitute for the sleek, finished, polished, professional, and attractive look that a high quality pair of hose provides.

People notice! I’m one of the few my age who wears them every day (in a skirt suit 4 days a week) and not only do I get compliments, people are positively effusive with relief that someone in the “flip flops to work, even to the White House” era still knows how to actually dress up. I’ll admit they usually don’t mention the hose directly, especially the men, but it’s usually after they glance down and see that I’m wearing them.

Not a single complaint about pantyhose holds up, if you do your homework and take the time, effort, and money to do it right.

Too hot? Wear ultra sheer, summer hose. Some have a polyurethane blend that is extra airy.

Too cold? Semi-opaque hose in the winter looks sheer but is much warmer. If it’s bitter you can wear wool tights for the commute and peel them off on arrival.

Either way, you’re going to be outside for just a few minutes, probably just seconds, between vehicle and climate controlled office. Please.

Poor fit? Admit your true size to yourself and buy hose accordingly. Very high end hose is “fully boarded” – that is shaped to fit legs and feet rather than being simple tubes.

Runs? Higher quality hose helps. Also pre-wash them in Hosiery Mate, which makes them not only stronger but softer. Better fitting hose won’t have to be tugged at as much, reducing runs. For tips on how to be extra careful with high end hose, see the “How to Put on Pantyhose” page at Shapings dot com, or just click on my name (hope I did it right). No I don’t work for them.

Scratchy? Don’t be so cheap – hose isn’t an afterthought. Invest in silky hose with a pleasant, smooth-gliding texture. The more lycra, the silkier it will be.

I don’t know how so many women dropped wearing hose, but it looks awful. What’s next, skipping makeup? You could say a lot of the same things – it’s stifling, hot, won’t let me breathe, the colors are unnatural, etc. I sure hope makeup isn’t next.

But if it is, I’ll keep wearing it too, and looking that much better than my colleagues as a result.

The male equivalent of pantyhose - and then some - is the suit and tie. Having to wear both are uncomfortable and a higher one-time expense than pantyhose are. Yet, I've seen many workplaces where women are wearing sandals and capris, yet men are expected to wear a dress shirt and tie. I agree with the comments above such as pantyhose looks way better than bare legs and a lot more professional and sexy and from gain them far more respect. The same applies for wearing nice shoes instead of flip-flops. Our society has lost a lot in moving towards "anything goes." Outside of work, it's too bad that women in particular feel a need to follow the herd more than marching to the beat of their own drummer.
