Why Your Boss Can Require You to Wear Pantyhose

I work in a very exclusive Hotel, and and the code there are some women wearing pantyhose, some women wear them and some doesn't. In my opinion, I think pantyhose are a part of looking professional. They might not feel comfortable at times, but it's professional and just look dressy. If anyone working at a place or office that requires wearing pantyhose, and you don't like them, well why dont they just get a job at McDonalds or somewhere that doesn't require wearing pantyhose. Just that simple.

You should wear the uniform for the job. I spent 22 years in the military. Lots of times in Texas in the summer I was wearing combat boots, battle dress fatigues with long sleeves, a kevlar helmet, and about 30 lbs of gear. Hot? Yes. Uncomfortable? Yes. Did I complain to the commanding officer or to the inspector general? No way! Suck it up and be professional. Coats and ties, pantyhose, whatever....it's the corporate uniform many places and YOU made the choice to work there. If you want to stay there and have an opportunity to get promoted, follow the boss's rules. Think about what our troops overseas in Iraq or Afghanistan are wearing and living in, and be glad you have it easy in an office.

There...I said it. Not politically correct, not socially acceptable. Just plain honest. I know for a fact that a lot of men in the workplace feel the exact same way. I do not consider myself sexist in the least. I simply enjoy the appearance of pantyhose versus bare legs in an office setting. Even on the nicest bare legs, pantyhose offers a certain polish. Besides, they're sexy. Ooops, did I say that, too? I know. I'm supposed to forget about all those kinds of thoughts while I'm at work. I'm sure, I'm the only one who has them. I wish I had women like Jessica from Florida working in my office. She seems to get it.

I work for a medium sized business in an office environment. While pantyhose is not a requirement, I wear them often. I find that when I am wearing pantyhose, co-workers seem to engage with me more frequently. Maybe because I seem more professional and confident. I even get more compliments on my appearance, although I must admit, that's almost exclusively from men. Most women believe that pantyhose is outdated. I think that's just an excuse not to wear them. I use that to my advantage to standout from the crowd. If that means accepting a few extra glances at my legs, either positive or negative, I'll take it.

The girl writing this has never worn a mens suit. Even a light weight suit can be brutal. You are crying about wearing a thin sheer garment while not even considering the man in your office has on wool pants, dress socks closed to leather shoes (not really a lot of options for men in dress foot wear). A linen shirt, a tie (think about a it a tie a noose tied around your neck) and a jacket over the top of that. Women, younger women especially have this "If I don't like something that I shouldn't have to do it" well I say to bad in the real world you have to do as your told. Besides from a lot of the well shaped legs of all ages lately, they could you some hosiery. Nothing looks worse legs with non uniform skin tone, bumps, veins ect it is just pure laziness, the same as a man in a suit with no tie laziness not to mention looking like a cheezy 70's porn star.

My job does not require me to wear hose, but I do everyday as it makes me look more polished, and I feel better in them as well.

Aa a matter of fact, I wear Pantyhose on my day's off as well. I like they way they make my leg's look, and feel. Even in the summer with 100 degree temps, I wear them. The problem with people today (Men & Women) they don't want to look professional, and when you dress down, IMO your work suffers as well, as a lot of people have a laxadasical additute.

Buy thigh highs. They'll help you "breathe" a bit more under your dress.

I think there's a place for applying a dressing code and that is in the business

world where both men and women should respect the attire that is supposed to be worn. As for whether to dress up in pantyhose or less, I purchase a low denier pantyhose that makes your legs breathe and they are very comfortable to wear.

All in all, there shouldn't be a problem about what to wear in the business world.

whats the big deal, you are in a professional setting, look the part if you ever want to do well in the company. being lazy and fighting the dress code or even looking like crap by doing the bare minimum while younger women are coming in wearing nice looking skirt suits and nylons without complaint will ensure that you will be relegated to a (out of sight) cubicle for eternity.

I once worked in an office that was "business casual" yet required that women wear panty hose. Men generally wore khakis/dockers and polos, so no ties or jackets, and women could dress similarly, as long as there were hose with skirts and hose or socks with pants. It was completely annoying in light of the fact that there was no logical reason behind it. We were told the reason was because our jobs were customer contact positions. Although we pointed out that we were in fact a CALL center and therefore 100% of our customer interactions were by phone... we couldn't convince management to let it slide.
