I agree that you need to customize your resume to each job you apply for. And you will also need to insert some of the EXACT words and phrases listed on the job description within the ad, otherwise, the computer "reading" your resume will reject it as a "not a match". Also...and I think this is the most important tip to pass on. DO NOT include any personally identifying information within your resume. Use your first and last name only, no middle initial or suffix like "Jr.", include only your cell phone contact #, and an e-mail address that you have set up at like yahoo or gmail specifically for resumes/responses only. Do not include your home address; do not include the dates you attended college or high school, just their names and if you got a diploma or degree. Do not list your marital status, or your family members and their names; no hobbies or memberships unless they are specifically applicable to the job you are applying for. In other words - do not put any information that is identifiable back to you. IF you are granted a face to face interview and the company looks reputable and established, this is the time you will fill out their application and release more information about yourself. The reason I say all this is because there are so many scammers out there that are using what looks like bonafide job listings to obtain information about you, via your very concise resume, so that they can create credit in your name, or access your credit already established. You may have a popular name, say 'John Smith' - however, if you are actually 'John F. Smith, III' your information is much easier to find. The more information you give a scammer, the easier it is for them to find quite alot of information about you on the internet, and the easier it is to create accounts in your name. I was in human resources, and I cannot tell you how many resumes I received that had just about every personal detail about a person you'd ever want to know - some even include social security numbers!

But seriously,folks,I got to steamin' the other day. Resumes remind me of exit visas from Nazi Germany; everything has to be just so, and so dry, and leave your soul and personality at the door. As hostages.
Zo,..I'm emplacing a personalized resume in places I can do it for free, and include me-specifics which may not be directed to a particular position. E.G., things I like to do and can do better than, say, Mr.Wilson. Nifty stories of accomplishment, such as changing a fan belt on I-80 in Nevada in June at noon.
I suppose personal ads are still around. I don't peek. The originals (c.'70) had a freshness,directness and most importantly, personal honesty that other methods of scoring lacked. I think every serious determined resume should have a similar twin, the alter view, Side B.

DO NOT use career objectives on resumes. ONLY if you are a new college graduate, should you place one on the resumes. Companies are not interested in what your objective is. Companies only want people who can help the COMPANY'S objective!
