Another tool to use during your job search is a recruiter. If you are't already working with one, consider finding one who specializes in your industry. They will be able to keep you updated throughout the job search process and help make it easier for you! http://ow.ly/2XL3b

Thanks for the 20 tip! I can use practically all of them - but I need to stay on top of my job search and networking, which consumes the better part of my day - 7 days a week. Therefore, not a lot of extra time to socialize. I do try to take at least part of one day off and have noticed this not only re-energizes me but helps this "baby boom" adjust her atiitude.

I expecially agree with tip 14 - when I have the opportunity to spend time with my 10 year old grandson, A.J., we concentrate on just having fun & taking about everything - except my job search!

Again, thaks for taking the time to list these tips & we all can incorporate many of these tips into our daily job search routine.

When I was laid off in 2002 after the Dot-Com bust, I was an emotional wreck. There were days that I would be diligent about looking for a job and days where I just curled up into a ball - paralyzed with fear.

I started to realize that the days I got up, took a shower, got dressed and hit the computer by 8:00 am to start job hunting, I would spend a much longer time at it than if I waited until later in the day. I decided to treat job hunting like an actual job. Within a month I landed a job while many of my coworkers who were also laid off took much longer to find jobs.

Keeping emotions in check can be incredibly difficult, but whatever you can do to trick yourself into moving forward, do it!

That takes a lot more time and money than unemployed people have.

And meeting someone new every day? are you kidding?
