Items Everyone Should Keep on Their Desk at Work

Have to disagree with the color choices! Yellow and orange are o.k. for homes because if you tire of them you can change them; whereas offices keep colors for YEARS because of tight budgets; yellow and orange are hardest to decorate around plus many times give an office a outdated look. Pale soft green or ivory are easiest on the eyes and best to have around you especialy with computer screens all about these days. Offices usually have no-scent policies. Need to stimulate the brain, just drink a glass of water with some fresh lemon, lime or orange juice mixed in. It's inexpensive, naturally refreshing; keeps you wide awake and the brain functioning just fine.

All of the offices where I have worked have had a no scents policy. No perfumes, no overly sniffy deodorants or fabric softeners scent, no air fresheners, no flowers or plants.

I would have loved to add a USB scenter of Eucalyptus or Lavender or Neroli....

I saw a special on TV about how colors affect the mood of a person. The specialists featured, who was an expert in this scientific field, mentioned that people are significantly more likely to argue in a yellow room because the wavelength of the color yellow causes fatigue. hmmm....

Rosemary essential oil will stimulate the brain too. Try using one of the USB aromatherapy diffusers now on the market.

@Paul. It IS papaya, but you are correct, there are many seed to choose from. As far as growing a plant from an avocado seed...I dunno! Anyone?

Andrew of NY 10:19AM November 17, 2010

I agree that the author must have meant an avocado but, pu-leese, only if you keep it alive. How many offices have you been in with dead plants? yuck...Nothing says "welcome" and "we care" like a dead plant!

In order to better remind me not to take any of all this work stuff too, too seriously, I keep a box of Crayola crayons on my desk. In this way, I get to look at whatever colors I'm in the mood for, as well as remember that it's all a game, after all.

There are dozens of small ones.

Is it possible you meant an avocado?

Thanks for the Article! As I was reading it I sprayed some lavender and water in my office. I keep a few essential oils handy at all times. They are a traveling doctors office. I love them.

All great ideas but there isn't any large seed in the middle of a papaya (unless you meant the largest seed). Instead, there are several small seeds.
